Gabriela Ruffels

Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Gabi Ruffels after her third round. Probably not the start you wanted, but really awesome finish. I think it was like, what, five birdies, four birdies in the last six holes. Talk about it today.

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, so like you said, didn't start that well at all. Hit it to the right on No. 1. Made a double. But I was just proud of the way I kind of stuck in there and felt like I gave myself the chance to kind of come back.

To finish the way I did is really good and some momentum into tomorrow.

Q. Just talk about what was going through your head after that double, especially with the long day, the heat? I know patience was probably a thing you were thinking about.

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, for sure, and just knowing this is a really tough golf course and No. 1 is a very tough hole. There is a lot of tough holes out here and you have to be hitting your driver really good.

A lot of tough holes but I also kind of knew there were a lot of the birdieable holes out there, too, which was kind of the case in the end. I was able to get it being bah. Yeah, really proud of the finish.

Q. Talk about the last stretch. What is it about those holes? Just hitting it really close? Irons on fire? Putting?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, they're tough holes to finish and I felt like I locked in there because they're tough holes. I did the same yesterday, which is kind of funny on the same exact holes.

Yeah, I guess I just kind of lock in and I kind of needed to that from the start.

Q. Like you said, tough golf course. What kind of stats do you think have really been helping you this week? Fairways hit? Greens? Putting? What's really helped?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: I mean, it's kind of tough. The fairways are so narrow out here so I don't think it's fairways hit. I've been definitely keeping it in play. That's kind of what you need to do out here.

The rough is not super thick, so if you miss the fairway it's fine. I've been putting really good this week, you know, getting up and down and chipping pretty good out here.

So, yeah, one more day. Hopefully I can continue it.

Q. Couple out of the lead. Been in these situations before. What have you learned about yourself in those past situations?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, just keep sticking to your routine, just being yourself out there, and trusting the process.

You know, just kind of staying calm, patient, especially on a golf course like this, because you never know. Even if you're a couple back, you know, crazy things can happen. If I kind of just stay in there you can finish like I did today. Yeah, just staying patient.
