Quick Quotes

Q. All right, here with Gabi Ruffels after her second round at the Maybank Championship. Just talk about how you played out there today; 6-under round I believe.

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, 6-under round. Six birdies, no bogeys. Just super solid out there. I feel like on this course when you kind of have it rolling then you can go low out here.

From the start I was rolling some good putts and played really good out there and just kind of kept going through the back nine and made a good birdie on 18. Yeah, overall happy with the round.

Q. I heard from different players that it's really easy to attack pins out here. Is that how you feel?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, I mean, I did yesterday. I think the pins were really tougher today. I was talking about that with my caddie at lunch.

They were kind of at the back on some and kind of over tiers, so they weren't like super I guess green light pins. You kind of had to play more defensive, and that's what we kind of did. I just kind of rolled some good putts so was happy.

Q. You mentioned your putting. You think that's what made a difference today?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: For sure. I hit it good as well. Did hit it close, which helps. You kind of have to.

But, yeah, just holed some good 10-, 15-footers.

Q. Your first time playing the Maybank Championship tournament. What are your thoughts on this course in general? What is it about it you enjoy, do you think?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, it's a great week. Everyone said it was going to be a good week. I enjoyed Korea and this is my first Asian Swing as a rookie.

It's nice to be here. The hotel is beautiful. We're kind of in the heart of Kuala Lumpur which is really nice. I have my dad here so we have been kind of exploring the city a little bit.

Food has been great. People have been awesome. The course is really nice. So looking forward to a good next couple days.

Q. And you're a rookie this year. Been in professional golf though for a while. What's it been like? Can you sum up this year being a rookie on the LPGA Tour?

GABRIELA RUFFELS: Yeah, it's been crazy. I definitely feel like a rookie. Even though I have played LPGA events before, I definitely feel like I am a rookie.

Made a lot of rookie mistakes and going to learn a lot from this year. I really enjoyed it. It's been a lot. The travel is insane.

I'm so grateful to be out here.

Q. This last stretch of golf, too, I mean, you've seen how exhausting it can be, all this golf throughout the whole entire season.

GABRIELA RUFFELS: For sure. I feel like at the start of the year there were a lot of I guess one-week breaks and not a lot of I guess two-, three-week breaks. I feel like it's kind of been a little bit better towards the second half of the year.

But I feel like traveling across Asia is never easy as well. I feel like in those moments you kind of have to tell yourself how lucky you are to be doing what you're doing and we get to be in Malaysia, Korea last week and Japan next week. It's pretty cool what we do.

You know, when times get tough I just remind myself that we're so lucky.
