Genevieve Ling

Quick Quotes

Q. Genevieve Ling after round one. Talk us through your day today.

GENEVIEVE LING: Yeah, I think I controlled my emotions pretty good out there. Actually I kind of rode on the crowd. There was a lot of people out, which was a great first day.

I think I wanted to give them something to watch.

Q. So you've been playing good for this year. What's been different?

GENEVIEVE LING: Well, obviously it's not just this year. Like it's been an accumulation of things, and of course this year I've just kind of focused on myself, made sure that the team that I have is people that trust in me and want to see me do well.

I think that's the biggest difference.

Q. Do you think being the golf ambassador of this golf course helped you with your five birdies?

GENEVIEVE LING: Of course. I mean, I know this course pretty well, probably better than anybody else out here, so I would say that's definitely an advantage, yeah.

Q. Do you have that in the back of your head?

GENEVIEVE LING: Yeah, obviously can go both ways, but like I said, I think I controlled my emotions pretty well in terms of that, too. So, yeah.

Q. Talk us through (regarding caddie.)

GENEVIEVE LING: For me this week I really wanted someone that could kind of be there for me, and Jerry has been a good friend since like I started golf. So I think he was a perfect fit for caddying this week, yeah.

Q. Any tips that he gave you on the round?

GENEVIEVE LING: No. He kind of did the whole shut up, keep up kind of thing. That's kind of what I needed, yeah.

Q. What's the game plan for tomorrow?

GENEVIEVE LING: Pretty much the same. I think just look at the pin positions, plan it out well, and put myself in good spots.
