Hannah Green

Quick Quotes

Q. Here with Hannah Green after her second round here at the Maybank Championship. A solid 9-under after the last two days. Just what's been working for you?

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I putted really solid yesterday and I managed to capitalize on the shots that I hit close.

Today I struggled a little bit with kind of getting good contact with my approach shots, which meant that the ball wasn't really going as close as it was yesterday.

Overall I still putted really solid from length. Had majority of tap-ins when I did have to perhaps make a two putt, so that was nice.

But, yeah, just trying to not get too ahead of myself. Looking at the leaderboard I can kind thought when I shot 3-under par I would get jumped a lot more, obviously now I kept my position out there, so that's nice.

But, yeah, hopefully I just make some more birdies on the weekend and try and catch Hye-Jin as much as possible.

Q. Two top 20 finishes for you, top 10 last year at this course. What is it about, Malaysia, KLGCC that brings out the best of your game?

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I feel like off the tee you don't always have to hit driver, so I think that gives me favors since I don't statistically hit it that straight.

Last couple weeks I feel like I've been hitting the ball the best I have all year, so that's been nice, to have that confidence off the tee instead of having to be forced to layup, things like that.

I have, yeah, four or five people from Australia that follow me in Singapore and then here in Malaysia, so it's nice to have them. They let me know if it's a good shot on kind of those blind greens.

My husband also just flew in yesterday, so it's nice to have him here.

But I don't know. Just I really enjoy coming to Malaysia. It's, again, almost like my home event. It's only a six-hour flight from Perth where I live and also the same time zone. I also call this another home event.

Q. You've had success here in Asia obviously winning BMW last year. What is it, being closer to home, being on the same time zone that has helped you?

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, I really enjoy coming to Asia. The food can be difficult sometimes. I must admit I'm not good with spice so I don't really do much Malaysian food. I just really enjoy when we come here.

I think having the same time zone makes it helpful to be able to communicate with those back at home. I know these weeks can be some of the longest weeks of the year, so making sure I don't get too ahead of myself and take it easy and rest a little bit more than probably usual.

Q. Just couple more from me. Obviously no stranger to winning. Getting it wear the Crown with some of your fellow Aussies last week, how good did that one feel?

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, no, it was amazing to win with the girls. We're all a very tight-knit group. We barely got ourselves into the semis and then obviously into the final, so that was -- a lot of pressure putts were made.

I'm not surprised that we won because team chemistry was always going to be really easy for us. It was a matter of who we were playing against. Yeah, I feel like how I played in BMW and obviously last week at Crown has really helped with my momentum this week, as especially kind of a couple months prior to that have been tough times.

Been able to forget about that and have some good memories to think about on the golf course right now.

Q. You say you love Malaysia. Have you been here for holiday perhaps?

HANNAH GREEN: No, I have not. Unfortunately I don't really go on non-golfing holidays anymore. Again, it is so close and I feel like when I'm in the mall I see so many Australians here. It is very close to where I live and I would love to come visit and do touristy things other than just play golf at KLGCC.

Q. You kind of mentioned it, but Hye-Jin, where she is at, what's it going to take to catch her over the weekend?

HANNAH GREEN: Yeah, a lot of the birdies; I guess being aggressive when you need to be. But, again just still focusing on my own golf and not worrying about what she's doing or what other players are doing.

It's very easy to have a really good round out here and come from behind, and so, yeah, just making sure that I'm not getting too upset if I'm not making as many birdies as I want.
