Boston Celtics 105, Dallas Mavericks 98
Q. Luka said this loss was his fault because of the missed free throws and the turnovers. What are your thoughts on that?
P.J. WASHINGTON JR.: It’s not just Luka’s. It’s all our fault. We could have all played better. At the end of the day, we’re a team so it’s the team’s fault.
Q. You guys averaged 40 3-points attempts during the regular season. Only 53 attempts through the first couple of games. What do you attribute that to?
P.J. WASHINGTON JR.: We’ve been getting late into the shot clock in most of our possessions on the offensive end. We’ve got to do a good job of getting out early and setting high screens and letting our playmakers create plays for each other.
Q: What does this team present that’s different than the other teams you’ve faced in the west so far?
P.J. WASHINGTON JR.: They’re just better. At the end of the day, they are better than all the teams we’ve played. It’s the Finals, and we’ve just got to be better.
Q: What makes them better?
P.J. WASHINGTON JR.: Everything. Their record says that they have been the best team all year. They have two superstars, they have a lot of great role players and they play team ball. so we’ve just got to be better.
Q: Kyrie was walking by and he said, “We’ll be fine.” What are your thoughts on that?
P.J. WASHINGTON JR.: I am right with him. He’s our leader at the end of the day, and it’s two games. It’s first to four. We’ve just got to go home and protect home court. We are confident we can do that.
