Oklahoma City Thunder 103, Indiana Pacers 91
Q. After everything this team has been through this postseason to get to a winner-take-all game, what is the emotional transition when you see Ty go down like that?
MYLES TURNER: You never want to see a player go down, especially your own in such a big moment. I can’t imagine how he’s feeling. He’s having an amazing run to even get to this point, and for it to end like that, it’s heartbreaking.
Q. What does it say about this group, the way you battled, leading at halftime and fought literally until the final buzzer?
MYLES TURNER: There’s no moral victories in the NBA Finals.
Q. Longest-tenured player with this team. We know how much you all wanted to win this not just for yourselves but for the city as well. Can you describe your emotions?
MYLES TURNER: I haven’t had time to process my emotions, but I’m not feeling great. So we’ll leave it there.
Q. When you leave here, you know you left it all out on the court, didn’t you?
MYLES TURNER: Absolutely. We all laid it out on the line. We sacrificed, individual sacrifices, to get here. Played 105 games and came up one game short.
Q. What did Tyrese say to you guys at halftime?
MYLES TURNER: Tyrese was getting medical attention at halftime.
Q. How proud are you of this group, overcoming the injuries and everything you guys went through to get here?
MYLES TURNER: Of course, I’m proud of everyone in this locker room individually and collectively, as a group, as an organization to get to this point. But, again, there’s no moral victories here. We lost. That’s the way I look at it.
Q. How would you describe the way Tyrese was playing before he got hurt?
MYLES TURNER: Nothing short of magnificent. He willed us plenty of games, plenty of times we were down. Incredible shots. A run that is going to go down in history. But unfortunately, we came up short.
Q. The way the fanbase, the city rallied around this team, what did that mean to you guys?
MYLES TURNER: It’s everything, man. These fans are very deserving of a championship. It’s championship effort, just attention to detail with this fanbase. These guys work hard, use their hard-earned money to come watch us play, and we hopefully made them proud. But this is something that is going to sting for a long time.
Q. What are you going to miss most about this particular group and run?
MYLES TURNER: Just the moment. It’s been special. Everything we’ve been through even to get to this point, everything that went into it, the journey of that. Talk about the process a lot, not just the end goal, but the process. And I’ll miss the process with this group.
