Knicks 105, Spurs 104
Q. You scored 20-plus points on the night. What are you going to have to do in Game 3 to be able to help the other guys, the bench guys, get into a rhythm?
DE'AARON FOX: For us, we got to try to find a way to get easy baskets. 11 fast break points. I'm not sure what our transition points were, but we got to figure out a way to play fast, off of misses, off of makes, get the ball out quick. Just figure out ways to get those type of baskets.
Q. Seemed like some of the defensive confusion was when the Knicks successfully drew Victor out of the paint, whether because of KAT or another reason. What has that matchup been like for you guys through two games?
DE'AARON FOX: Yeah, obviously having somebody like KAT is a difficult cover. That's what everybody tries to do is pull Vic away from the basket. Obviously him being in the paint, greatest player to ever be -- when he's standing there, you feel the gravity. You feel teams kind of see him there and decide to do something else.
We have to figure that out, because that's not something that we haven't seen before. But obviously this team and the way they shoot the ball, the way they move the ball, we have to figure out a way.
Q. The last possession, what did you see? What did you think about the shot?
DE'AARON FOX: About Vic's shot?
Q. Yes.
DE'AARON FOX: It was a great shot. Catch-and-shoot shot right off the elbow. He makes that shot 9 times out of 10. I think we had a great possession.
Q. With the stakes of this game, the big comeback, the letdown at the end, as a veteran on this team, how do you help the guys recover emotionally?
DE'AARON FOX: You got to look at the game ahead of us. Obviously we can't get this back. We would have loved to win obviously both of these games.
Now we got to go on the road and try to win a game. We obviously want to win both games, but we have to take this one game at a time.
Q. The rally there late, was that just sensing the moment and the urgency? Did you do things differently that you weren't doing earlier in the ballgame?
DE'AARON FOX: No, it's a game of runs. We were able to get stops, get out. Guys made big shots. The ball was moving. It's the NBA. Swings like that happen all the time.
I think we were up 12 at one point in the game. Even last game, I think we were up 13 at one point in the game. It's the NBA. You know that swings and points swings can happen in a matter of minutes.
Q. Victor attempted four shots in the first half, 17 in the second half. Is there a way to explain that disparity? Is it on you guys to find a way to get him more shots in the first half, or does he need to be more assertive?
DE'AARON FOX: No, we came in, we were like, we need you to be aggressive. That is what it is. He came out in the second and was much better for us. That was the reason that we were able to get back in the game. We need him to be him. Like I said, we don't need to come in here and start doing things we haven't done before. Whenever he's aggressive, we're at our best.
Q. What did you see when the pass from Victor to Steph didn't connect? What went through your mind?
DE'AARON FOX: When it happened, I had the clear view of it. As soon as he passed it, I saw Steph wasn't ready or wasn't looking for the ball. Those things happen.
There were a lot of things that led up to that point that we could have avoided. Even after that, that was before Vic's last shot, and we still gave ourselves a chance to win.
I don't know if we would say we deserved to win that game, but we were in that game and we had a chance.
Q. No team has ever overcome an 0-2 deficit at home in the Finals. That gives a historic point of view of what you're going to try to do to come back in this series, it will be unique?
DE'AARON FOX: We just got to try to make history not repeat itself. We have to keep them off the glass. Obviously there's things that kind of happen in Game 1, as well. That's how they built a lead in this game, them being able to get out in transition, playing off of our turnovers, getting offensive rebounds, capitalizing on those offensive rebounds. That's pretty much it.
Q. Steph did a great job making Brunson work again tonight. Offensively it was a rough night for him. What did you see that you think he can do better on that end?
DE'AARON FOX: For Steph?
Q. Yes.
DE'AARON FOX: Just continue to play within himself, within the offense. That's a good defensive team. They have long wings, long, strong wings. They make it difficult on you, especially whenever you touch the paint.
For him, we need him to stay downhill, stay aggressive. That's when he's at his best and when we're at our best as a team.
It is what it is. You have to try to find ways to negate the defensive wings that they have. OG I think was Second Team All-Defense this year. He has Steph a lot. We have to screen better just to try to free him up, allow him to play in space.
Q. You guys were able to contain Brunson for much of the night. Do you think you found something that you can ride in the next few games or he just missed shots?
DE'AARON FOX: I think we've had a good defense majority of the year. We're just trying to make it difficult on him. I think we've done a good job both games. He's made big shots at the end of games. He's a hell of a player.
Even when you make it difficult on good players, they're talented so they're going to end up making shots. He's done that, especially at the end of the games.
I don't know if I would say just change much of what we're doing. He's made timely shots.
