Q. What made Snell so tough for you guys tonight?

TERRY FRANCONA: I mean, you could see kind of the obvious stuff, like power to the fastball, velocity in the upper 90s, spins the ball.

I thought the big difference maker was his change-up -- it was his ability to manipulate the change-up, like even vary it. He'd throw one that was 87 and one that was 82 off the first change-up.

And he threw multiple, like, two, three, four in a row at times at times and all different speeds. And then you throw a 97 in there, and it becomes difficult.

Q. What did you see from Hunter? And how is he doing probably after a disappointing performance?

TERRY FRANCONA: I haven't talked to him yet or anything. But he didn't locate. He threw a couple of breaking balls -- one to Teoscar, and the next one to Edman -- that were -- it wasn't where he was trying to throw them. And when he didn't locate, he really paid a price for that.

That happened to us with other with Suter too. If you make a mistake, they can make you pay.

Q. Just the fight late, that Stephenson at-bat, what's going through your mind there when you're rallying there in the eighth?

TERRY FRANCONA: I liked it. Steve-o had a good at-bat. If he could find one to flip one in there -- but it's a big deficit. That's a lot to ask, but they kept playing, that's what you're supposed to do.

Q. Did Hayes leave the game because of his back?

TERRY FRANCONA: No, he's okay. At the time we were down eight and I really want him to play tomorrow. I thought to be fair to him, with everything he's been through -- and also wanted to get Sal an at-bat. I thought it would be good for him.

Q. There were a couple of erratic plays on defense throughout the game. Is that something you just kind of chock up to inexperience?

TERRY FRANCONA: Which ones are you talking about?

Q. Just like the throw at third that went to the dugout.

TERRY FRANCONA: He didn't have a play. It didn't look like he was going to throw. Then it looked like he rushed it, and he threw on the other side of the runner. So that was unfortunate. Which other ones are you talking about?

Q. The other ones were just Greene -- having a couple of pitches that weren't located.

TERRY FRANCONA: Well, that happens.

Q. Similar note with Littell going tomorrow on the mound, how big is it to have his veteran experience tomorrow?

TERRY FRANCONA: I hope it's terrific. That's the idea.
