Q. How difficult was it to lock back in after the way the first inning went and what led you to have success over the rest of the outing?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: My condition wasn't bad, but it took a little to settle in the game. So I was watching the reaction of the hitters, and that helped me to get back into my groove.

Q. Dave has talked about needing length out of the starters. How important was it for you to be able to get through the sixth-inning jam and work into the seventh?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: As a starting pitcher, my job is getting as deep into the game as possible. And today I was just trying to get my -- bring my everything out there.

Q. In the sixth inning, facing De La Cruz and using a curveball and how were you thinking to take that approach against him?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: I felt a little bit, because I was throwing curveball, too many curveballs, but I trusted Ben. He was calling the curveball. And then also I thought, by watching De La Cruz's reaction, I thought that was a good call.

Q. At that moment the Dodgers were leading by only one run. What were you thinking?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: Given that game situation, I didn't want to allow any hits. And also the first out, which was inducing a ground ball, that kept the runners. I tried to keep runners away from advancing. So I think that was good.

Q. When you allow the first run, it looked like the hit was -- it looked like it was going to be out, but unfortunately it allowed the first run of the game. Did it cause any mental damage to you?

YOSHINOBU YAMAMOTO: My focus was on like taking the one hitter at a time, and I think that was the best I could do.
