Cameron Doan

Q. 1-over through 36. How pleased are you with your first two days here?

CAMERON DOAN: Very pleased. Today was tougher. I didn't hit it as good today. Had to scramble. So I got, I probably got as much out of it as I could today. Greens got a little bit baked out when the grease got blowing it got tougher. Golf course showed its teeth a little more. But couldn't be happier.

Q. The satisfaction on a day if your long game's not as sharp and still producing a number.

CAMERON DOAN: Yeah, I kind of got off early, so I tried to adjust my lines a little bit and lean on the putter. And that worked out. I played a little bit of defense probably. As they say, if you're going to play four days in a row at least one day you're not going to have it, you better figure out how to get it around that day and we did that.

Q. You had the double I guess at 5, but then responded with a nice string of pars to close. So how good was that answer?

CAMERON DOAN: That answer, the biggest putt of the day was on 6. Because I hit it in the rough down in that little collection area on 6 and that was a hard shot. Scraped it out and I think I had probably a 10-footer for par. That going in was a big deal. The old -- that was the epitome of stopping the bleeding right there.

Q. Steady coming in.

CAMERON DOAN: Yeah, it was blowing so hard it was tough to get the ball to go the right distance. But once that second shot on 9 was hit, that was a big relief, for sure.

Q. How much do you credit the support you've received from section members and members from your club and family to making the cut?

CAMERON DOAN: Huge. Without all them I don't think I make the cut. Having them out there pulling for me, taking time out of their day. My guys that are members have a lot of things they could be doing other than scrambling around watching me. And all the section guys being out here, embracing the story that Mark's told, I'm fortunate. Definitely got me over the line, no question.

Q. Going into tomorrow you have a chance to be low club pro. What would that mean to you and would this be the crowning accomplishment of your career if you do?

CAMERON DOAN: Hopefully, I'm not done. But, yeah, that would be cool. Honestly, I haven't thought about that. That would be cool. Getting a chance to play all four days was probably the primary goal. I don't know how many other guys are going to make the cut, but probably get to play with Harrison again tomorrow, since we shot the same number. That's always good, he's such a good guy. We'll go early and there probably won't be any breeze and we can take a rip at it.

Q. It was a lot of talk coming in, you were going to hit the first shot and that was going to be a big emotional moment and everything, but did you have a good feeling about your game beyond maybe the opening tee shot that it was in good shape to compete out here?

CAMERON DOAN: I did. I put in some work starting in January. I got in better shape. I got stronger so I could walk six times in one week, which I don't do very often. Spent a lot of time with three different guys on my staff, Jeff Barton, Alastair Jones and Nick Ishee all gave me some thoughts. And then Jeff, who is our director of instruction who coaches three TOUR players has been out with me every day warming me up, been in my head, keeping me level. And then my son. I made that double and my chili was hot. And he got right in the middle of me and calmed me down. He was perfect. Couldn't have been any better.
