Felipe Aguilar

THE MODERATOR: Felipe, great round out there on the first day of the 2025 Senior PGA Championship. What are your thoughts on your round overall?

FELIPE AGUILAR: Well, I think it was a pretty solid round. I hit a lot of fairways. A little bit sketchy off the start of the round. It was a little rainy, wet, a little bit cold in the morning. But as the round went by, I felt a little more comfortable. Started hitting the ball a little bit better, missing it on the right side, and especially putted pretty good today.

I missed a couple clutch putts that I needed to make and didn't make too many mistakes. The golf course the way it's presented, I think that's one way to go.

Q. Was it as hard as you expected?

FELIPE AGUILAR: Well, I thought it was -- this is a very difficult golf course the way it's presented. The greens are hard. The ball is rolling really good. It's very slopey greens.

I think the way they put the pin positions, some of them, you don't even have to look at it, trying to make 4 and run away and trying to get ready for the next couple holes. You do have some chances out there. You have to take advantage of it.

Q. The fact that you're in good position to start, what's the mindset now?

FELIPE AGUILAR: Well, it's the same as every day. You can only lose the event the first day. You're not going to win it today or tomorrow. You have to get yourself in a good position for the weekend and then try to make a good finish and good weekend, especially on the greens this year. I think everything is going to depend on the greens if you hit the fairways off the tee.
