THE MODERATOR: We're here with Vijay Singh at the 2025 Senior PGA Championship. We'll open it up to questions.
Q. Could you just talk about the day and the difficulties out there after yesterday?
VIJAY SINGH: It was pretty cold in the morning. I don't like cold. Rough start; I bogeyed my first three holes. I said, well, here we go. I was planning for the weekend off. But my caddie said, just keep going. I said, yeah, I've been playing very well. I've been driving the ball good. Just hung in there and started making a couple of birdies here and there, picked up the shots, and the back nine I played solid golf.
Q. You go from maybe not making the cut to in contention? Is that how you see it?
VIJAY SINGH: Not really, not making the cut, but in your mind you make three bogeys in the first three holes, your mind just goes haywire, you say what the hell is going on. But I've played long enough to know that there's a lot of golf out there.
Q. Your history, you've played the course before, or does that not come into play because it's changed so much?
VIJAY SINGH: Well, the routing is the same, but that's about it. It's totally a different golf course, totally new golf course. The greens are very challenging, to say the least. The pin placements were pretty tricky. You think you've read it correctly, but it's subtle breaks here and there, and nobody in our group made any putts. I made a couple. I made one good one on No. 10. But it was tricky. It's very, very hard to read the greens correctly.
Q. Really does it come down to putting --
VIJAY SINGH: Putting and second shots. I think this is a second-shot golf course here. The fairways are very generous here, and you just have to negotiate the bunkers on the front side. They've moved the tees quite a bit forward on 17 and 15, I think, so that made it a little -- and I was kind of shocked to know what the hell are we going to hit over here. Made it shorter but made it a little bit more challenging because you've got to know where to hit it.
Q. What's your practice routine and how has it changed over the years?
VIJAY SINGH: Well, you can cut it in half or even more than that. Yeah, once I get on the range and hit -- it used to be I'd go out there and hit five, six good shots and I'd say, okay, let's see if I can do 20 of these ones. But now if I hit two or three good shots, I say, I've had enough, that's it. With each club, obviously.
I'm hardly out there more than an hour after the round.
Q. What are your memories of this place playing here before?
VIJAY SINGH: It was a hell of a golf course. Now it's a different golf course. Same routing, like I said, but totally different golf course. But I've always loved playing here.
