Q. Here with Jason Caron; round two of the 2025 Senior PGA championship. Another 2-under today. What was it like out there for you?
JASON CARON: Tough. Really tough. The wind was pumping out there today. You know, got a nice up and down on 10 to start the day, and then knocked it on in two on 11.
Best shot of the week was that 3-wood in there, and then to two-putt. Made some nice putts on that nine, but it was playing hard out there. I mean, really, really hard. I asked my caddie, what do you think the cut is going to? He was like, I don't know, 7-over. We get in and it looks like 4 right now, but it will probably go to at least 5, maybe 6.
I thought it was very hard. The first hole I hit a very good drive and hit a very good 6-iron, and yesterday I hit driver and a little 9-iron.
So just shows you how hard the wind is blowing out there at times.
Q. Curious, you're playing nicely. Just why? Is that your just nature? Why would you be thinking about the cut?
JASON CARON: Because was playing with Stephen Ames and he was at plus-4. I was thinking, is that going to be around the cut. I saw Quigs was playing behind me. I thought he was at 4.
He is staying with us, so just curious what the thoughts would be.
No, I mean, I was playing well. I wasn't thinking for myself. That was late in the day. It was on the last hole we were talking about it.
Q. What do you do when it's windy? I know weather is weather. How does that change your mindset? Do you consider yourself a good player?
JASON CARON: Yeah, growing up on Cape Cod where it's windy, as you know, it's always windy, so I just flight the ball. Just try to flight it as much as I can.
Obviously downwind you don't need to flight it as much but into the wind everything is being -- you know, try to keep it down, whether it's off the tee, anything like that.
Q. We have rain, wind, don't know what you expect for the weekend, but how firm are those greens going to be, too?
JASON CARON: Yeah, by Sunday I'm sure 6they'll have them really, really tough. The pin placements have been brutal too by the way. There were some tough ones out there.
So scores, I mean, you can see 6-under is leading. I don't know if it'll get much better than that to be honest. I really don't. Just depends how much they let the greens dry out.
With these tough pin locations being it's just a tough golf course.
Q. 68 was low this morning. Two scored 68. I don't know if there will be many sub-70s, 68s, 69s. Knowing it's a major, is that kind of what you want though?
JASON CARON: Maybe. Again, I think I mentioned at the start of the week, to me this golf course is more of a U.S. Open style golf course which I've played many, but just the difficulty in the greens. You go to like an Oakmont where the greens are brutal there. You know, I would think more of a PGA, maybe make more birdies.
But like you said, it's a major, right? Make it tough. The venue is just amazing. The driving range is about as good as you can get anywhere. Chipping area is great. Putting greens are perfect.
I mean, it's just really an awesome venue.
