Q. Obviously a pretty good week so far between Monday and what you've done so far. Talk about the week so far.
SCOTT STALLINGS: Yeah, 36-hole qualifiers anything can happen. We had an unbelievable weather day with 70 degrees, overcast in Dallas. I think anyone that's ever done that here can say that that's like a unicorn day. That was a huge goal, probably the biggest goal I had of the year is to play the Open up there, probably the only time in my career I'll have an opportunity to play a major championship in New England where at least half my family lives, my sister lives just down the road. I was born about 45 minutes from there.
Just to have an opportunity to be up there and the affiliation with Nobull and kind of everything that happens in the Boston area and probably one of the best sports towns if not -- I know I'm biased when I say it's the best sports town, probably guys would argue with me, but to have that carry over into the week was nice to see, and take advantage of a day that we definitely haven't seen very often here.
Q. It has to feel good to take advantage of what you've got here, like I heard you say there's not a lot of wind out here today. You're not going to get them like this very often.
SCOTT STALLINGS: Yeah, had some good looks early, had some eight-, 10-, 15-footers skirting the edge, lip-outs here and there, just kind of kept continued do -- I felt good on the greens, felt good with my stroke, and nice to see them fall in there towards the second half of the round.
Q. You had birdies on 8, 9, and then carried over on the back?
SCOTT STALLINGS: Yeah, 8, 9, then 11, 12, had a good look on 13, birdied 14, left it in the heart on 17, and then I made a nice putt on 18.
Q. How does that feel to finish on a putt like that?
SCOTT STALLINGS: It was nice, we were in between clubs, gap wedge and pitching wedge, and there's not a bunch of wind up there, but just kind of the only place you can't go there is long, and I tried to kind of jam a gap wedge in there and stood it up in there and it had a little bit more spin on it than we thought, but my caddie has done an unbelievable job of reading the greens all week and I rely on him a lot. He said, man, it's going to break late, and I spit it out there and hopefully he was right and it went right in the middle.
Q. You've played Colonial quite a few times. You've had some struggles here, missed some cuts. What do you think was different other than the weather today?
SCOTT STALLINGS: Man, it's keeping the ball in front of you. You get out of position, not trying to do too much with it, understanding the value of par when you're out of position, but also understanding the correct sides to miss, just depending on pin locations, and the short side is not always the worst place. The worst thing is where you want to pitch it back and over. Like 13 yesterday I missed long and right, which seemed like the right place, but then you're chipping on a downslope straight downwind. The best spot to miss was in the left bunker. So just kind of looking from tee to green, that's the short side, but then you're hitting a bunker shot straight into the wind uphill. Danny Lee hit it in the bunker, which looked like a way worse shot than mine, hit a bunker shot to a foot. I felt like I hit a nice pitch and had 25 feet for par. Just kind of stuff like that.
