THE MODERATOR: Great start with some birdies. Played under some tough conditions with the wind. How did the third round go?
MATTI SCHMID: Yeah, obviously I got off to a really good start, and after three holes I hung onto that pretty good, I would say.
I needed to scramble a little bit today. Didn't hit too many fairways. I mean, it was tough. I feel like a lot of tee shots were with hard left-to-right wind. I hit in a fade, so it's kind of tricky to hit these fairways then because they're so firm, but hung on there pretty good.
THE MODERATOR: Playing in the final group and also with Ben Griffin. Did it feel almost like a match-play style?
MATTI SCHMID: Not really. I mean, it's 36 holes. Still a lot of things could happen, so I was just focused on my game trying to execute as good as I can. Yeah, hit fairways and greens and make a few putts.
THE MODERATOR: What past experiences are you going to use to draw upon tomorrow and during the final round?
MATTI SCHMID: Well, I had a few close calls also on the European Tour, I would say. I also played some nice final rounds this year too, so hopefully I can just put one more up there tomorrow, and hopefully that's enough.
THE MODERATOR: Questions, please.
Q. How valuable has that putter been, especially from 7 to 10 feet this week?
MATTI SCHMID: I mean, I think we're a little away from the field. Then obviously you need to putt well to do that. But, yeah, it's so far the best putting tournament of my career, so hopefully I'll have one more good round then tomorrow.
Q. A few things have been made about how difficult the course is getting. It's getting faster. It's getting windier. Just wondering one challenge the course presents to you that you are really going to have to bear down on tomorrow?
MATTI SCHMID: Well, if the wind direction stays like that, I would say we have a lot of crosswinds from left to right, and that makes it really difficult to hold the fairways for me with the cut.
Yeah, somehow I'll try to find fairways tomorrow, and then you can attack this golf course.
