Q. Ryan, solid day today, 64. Just what was working for you out there?
RYAN GERARD: Yeah, I felt like I was hitting it really good the last few days. I was working well in the off week kind of with the putter working on my aim a lot. But just spent a lot of time just kind of getting the body right. Swinging it nicely, hitting it where I want to for the most part, and just it was nice to get a couple putts to go in. I know the stats are probably going to lean more putting, but I've been hitting my driver really well and just like to continue doing what I'm doing for the rest of the week.
Q. A little bit back and forth to start, but went on a birdie streak on 1. Can you talk about, was there anything that was changing out there or just your mindset?
RYAN GERARD: I think it was just trying to stay patient. If you get enough opportunities, and you feel like you're swinging it well, you'll eventually be able to capitalize on a couple of 'em. Just kind of hitting solid shots and just making a few key putts here and there. But as the round came, like, went on, you know, kind of gave myself some good opportunities, got a couple putts to go. Just tried to stay patient and just keep it in front of me.
Q. You mentioned you didn't play well here last year, can you talk a little bit about how the course is playing today, being one of the first wave out and what you learned from last year from that experience?
RYAN GERARD: Yeah, I played pretty good in the first round last year, and then I think I just kind of almost found myself behind the 8-ball and was trying to press a little bit and try and get, makeup some shots early. That's just not something you can do out here. You're not going to be able to just force shots into tight hole locations, especially if they get, greens get firm. It's really just be strategic, take what it gives you, keep it in the fairway, keep it on the fat side of the green if you can, and then just go to work from there. It's not a place that you can just cut corners and bomb it and gouge it out of the rough. You're not going to have success doing that, or at least I'm not. So just going to try and continue that plan, pick good targets off the tee and kind of go from there.
