Colonial CC

Ludvig Åberg

Quick Quotes

Q. 4-under 66 today; how would you assess your round?

LUDVIG ÅBERG: Yeah, I thought it was okay, nothing crazy. I hit a few fairways, missed a few fairways, hit a few greens, missed a few greens, but obviously a positive day, back nine especially. Kind of a little bit slowish front nine, and then birdies on the back, which definitely was nice.

Q. This is your first start that you've made here at Colonial since winning the Ben Hogan Award. How important was it for you to work this into your schedule being a two-time winner of the award?

LUDVIG ÅBERG: It was cool. Obviously I hadn't been here in a couple of years. We used to play a college event here that I always enjoyed. I love the area here, Fort Worth, and with the Ben Hogan Award, I feel like I owe a lot to them. I owe being here, representing Texas Tech, representing myself and my school well, and there's a lot of Texas Tech people here, which is really cool. Yeah, I look back at those two awards as kind of the start to my career, and obviously met a lot of people here that I remember from those times. Yeah, it's cool to be back.

Q. Jackson Koivun joined you on Monday as another two-time Hogan Award winner. What impresses you about what he's accomplished in college golf so far?

LUDVIG ÅBERG: Yeah, it's not surprising that he won it. I actually played Memorial two years ago, and he was in the field playing, and we were playing a practice round and was behind us, so I waved him up and we played, I guess, six holes together, and he was -- first hole we played was 4, and he hit one shot, missed the green, went, oh, I'm just going to hit another one. Makes it with like a 6-iron or something like that. I was like, okay, this is good.

Obviously really, really good player, cool to see, and it'll be fun to see him play well on the PGA TOUR, as well.
