Q. Ryan, 9-under overall after two days. Just talk to us about how today was for you.
RYAN GERARD: Yeah, today was, I played really, really solid. Didn't get a whole lot out of the round early in the day. Felt like I hit a lot of good golf shots. Kind of got a weird one that went out of bounds on 3. Then hit a lot of good shots, hit a lot of good putts that just kind of grazed the edges or didn't quite go in. But overall feel really solid about how things were and I'm going to take that positivity into the weekend and just keep doing what I'm doing.
Q. From your perspective what makes this golf course discontinuing from most of the other ones on TOUR?
RYAN GERARD: There's a very large penalty for missing off the tee out here. Whether that's behind a tree or thick rough that's unpredictable into a small green. I think that kind of separates itself. There's a bucket of these courses Harbour Town, Wyndham, places like Myrtle Beach, like places where if you get off the side of the fairway it's not a very easy task to get it up and around the green. I had to chip out from 100 some yards twice yesterday just because I was in jail. So there's a premium on hitting it in the corridors, and just sticking with the game plan because if you start trying to press and maybe get too aggressive bad things can happen and then it's kind of a spiral from there. So it's a test of patience and just going out there and trying to execute.
Q. Given that very thoughtful answer, for the next two days what is going to be key for you?
RYAN GERARD: I think just kind of sticking to the game plan. I feel like I know this golf course fairly well now. I feel comfortable with how the conditions are going to get, hopefully a little firmer. I like where I'm hitting the golf ball and I like how I'm rolling it, just kind of keep doing what time doing and let it come to me and not try and force anything. And I'll add 'em up at the end after 36 more.
Q. If there is such a thing, what single shot is most crucial at this place?
RYAN GERARD: Any time you have to hit less than driver off the tee. There are four or five holes out here that you have to hit less than driver off the tee and there's a reason why and the penalty for missing is more drastic on those holes. So 10, 17, 5, 3 sometimes. Any time you have to club down off the tee there's a specific reason and it's because the corridor is tight, the penalty for missing is that big, and if you get just slightly off you're in a world of hurt.
Q. I'm assuming the corridors shrink as it gets dryer?
RYAN GERARD: Much, much, much smaller areas to land the golf ball.
