Quick Quotes

Q. Jordan, second consecutive 65. If we can get some comments on your excellent play.

JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, no, I'm obviously very, very happy. Going into the weekend in a good position. The putter's been hot the last two days, which is nice to see. Swing still hasn't felt a hundred percent, but we've been hitting a lot of fairways and a lot of greens, which is key out here. So, yeah, just going to take the chances when we get them.

Q. 24 out of 28 fairways hit. Just talk a little bit about how you're doing off the tee, and then also 8 of 9 in scrambling.

JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, when we have missed the green, the majority of the time we missed it in the right places and left ourself easier chip shots. But, yeah, it's a strength of my game out here, sort of hit a lot of fairways and greens. So we're going to try and do the same over the weekend, go with the same game plan and attack those pins when we can.

Q. Started eagle, birdie, take us through that first hole.

JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, it's always nice to get off to a start like that. So yeah, hit a driver straight down the middle of the fairway. Hit a 5-wood which I thought was going to come up short in the bunker, but just covered it, got a nice bounce it went down to about six foot, which always helps, need those lucky breaks, so, yeah, a nice way to start the day.

Q. Only bogey of the week came today on number 14. Take us through you that?

JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, it was just a strange one. We hit it way out into the rough on the right and it was sat down. It had a bit of mud on the ball, but we didn't think it would affect it that much. And it just, as soon as it took off, it just dove right, and right of that pin and that green is just dead. Yeah, just one of those things that you have to take, try and bounce back from it.

Q. You'll be the leader heading into tomorrow, how do you feel about that and what will the game plan be?

JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, it's going to be a new experience for us out here leading for the first time. So, yeah, I'm excited. Just going to stick to what I've been doing the last two days. Yeah, just see what happens, not going to force anything, not going to rush anything, just going to see what happens and enjoy it.

Q. 10 of 15 made cuts now. No. 66 in the FedExCup standings. Just talk a little bit about your season up to this point.

JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, we're very happy. Obviously my first year out here and we've played a lot, we had to play a lot. Just keeping our card this year was our goal. We've got off to a really good start, which is really nice to see. So, yeah, just going to try and push on from that and try and get on to some of the playoff events and see what happens.

Q. You were just asked out there about how hot it is this week. They said Padraig Harrington said Singapore is the hottest place he's ever played. You played all around the world, talk a little bit about that and how this heat stands up to that.

JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, this is one of the hottest weeks I played in for a long, long time. But Singapore is just, yeah, it's just a different level. As soon as you step outside you start sweating. So, yeah, and I sweat a lot on the best of days (laughing). So it's just something that you got to manage out here and drink plenty of water and try and stand in the shade as much as you can.

Q. And you're diving right into the Texas way of living. Talk a little bit about your very first rodeo last night.

JORDAN SMITH: Yeah, it was good fun. It's a shame we couldn't go tonight. We decided to go yesterday, it was a lot of fun. Cool experience. I mean, I wouldn't like to be those bull riders or the guys in the ring there with bulls. So, yeah, like I was saying to my caddie, I hope they get paid a lot to do that.
