Q. Mac, 10-under after three days, just how would you assess your round today?
MAC MEISSNER: Yeah, there was a lot of positives. I like how I drove it on the front nine, I gave myself a lot of opportunities, a lot of birdie opportunities. On the holes where I did miss the greens I gave myself pretty easy up-and-down, which is kind of important out here. Yeah, the goal tomorrow for sure will just be to try and get the ball in the fairway a little bit more. It's difficult out here, a lot of the times it's really difficult to commit to the shots that you're trying to hit with the crosswind that you have. So that will be really important tomorrow.
Q. You have two top 10s in your last three starts, how do you feel like your game has been trending?
MAC MEISSNER: Yeah, it's been trending well since the Florida swing. I missed all three cuts I played in Florida, which was frustrating. I had a couple weeks off after that to do a little bit of swing work, which I wasn't happy with how I was swinging it early in the year. I have made a lot of progress with that, I like how I'm hitting the ball. I know what my misses are caused by, which is kind of the most important thing for a lot of us out here.
Then the putting's been trending really well. It's tough, putting out here is really difficult, the greens are really subtle, so that will be another important key tomorrow is just committing to your lines and just letting the ball go in.
Q. You're from Dallas, your wife's from Fort Worth, you guys are building a house a five-minute walk from here. Talk about the support you've had all week.
MAC MEISSNER: Oh, it's been so much fun staying with my wife's parents and Matt McCarty and his caddie have been staying with us too. So we've had a fun week. Off the course I've been focused on my Spurs, it's been a lot of fun, it's been great to take my mind off of golf and yell at the TV a little bit. So, big game tonight, so I think that will be helpful to get my mind off of golf a little bit tonight.
Q. Where are you going to watch the game tonight?
MAC MEISSNER: I think we're just going to watch it at the house. I don't love watching it with a lot of people just because I kind of get a little bit -- I don't get frustrated, but I just get really locked into the game. I don't love when people are talking while I'm watching the game. I've been a Spurs fan for like 25 years, it's my favorite sport, they're my favorite team growing up in San Antonio, so it will be fun I'm excited.
Q. When you were the were at SMU did you get over here much?
MAC MEISSNER: Yeah, for sure. My wife's family, they live over here about 15 minutes from Colonial. Came over a bunch, hung out with them. I played this place a couple times outside of the tournament. I love being here. I love the challenge it presents. I love that par is a good score out here, which in some of the events we play recently par hasn't been as valuable. So it's fun to have that challenge.
Q. Torrid start, everything was super clean, and then it just seemed to stop. What happened?
MAC MEISSNER: It's tough. It got hot. It got really hot. It got windy. Had a really good look on 13 that would have been -- 12 I had a bad break, hit it in that bunker and had to hit it just short of the green. Had a pretty easy up-and-down, didn't get it up-and-down, which I was pretty frustrated by.
Then 13, hit a great shot. That would have been a nice momentum one to make.
Then 15, another drive that kind of went over those bunkers, had a chance to be in the fairway, but it was just right of the fairway, blocked out. It's tough. That's the hard part about this golf course, you can make what you think are pretty good swings and you're battling for par. I'm proud of how I fought. I missed some greens coming down the stretch but had some good up-and-downs. And I hung in there, which is all I was asking for today.
Q. As you prepare for tomorrow where does your head need to be tomorrow afternoon?
MAC MEISSNER: Yeah, for sure. I think like I said focusing less on the result and the score I think is something I've struggled with in the past on Sundays, being so worried about where I am on the leaderboard. I think tomorrow I'll be trying to be a lot more focused on just controlling what I can control, which is my commitment, my process, and after all after that it's kind of out of my control. So being okay with losing a little bit of control and working on controlling what I can control.
Q. A good finish tomorrow could give you obviously a chance to win, but also a spot into Memorial next week through the Aon Swing 5. What would that mean to you to get into the next Signature Event?
MAC MEISSNER: That would obviously be really cool. I played two Signature Events they were both THE PLAYERS last year and this year. So to be able to play in one of those smaller-field events would be really cool. I watch a lot of 'em and like I said, I feel like I belong in those events, so to work myself into those would be really cool.
Q. If you got in, how would that propel your career?
MAC MEISSNER: Yeah, I mean those playing opportunities are really important on this TOUR. Those guys that get to play in those events have a higher opportunity to make the playoffs, make the second round of the playoffs, make the majors. Those higher point events, higher World Ranking point events are so big on this TOUR and it will be a really good opportunity.
Q. Who is your favorite player on the Spurs?
MAC MEISSNER: All Spurs?
Q. Yeah.
MAC MEISSNER: Okay, Manu Ginobili is my favorite Spur of all time. I grew up watching -- I've been watching them for 20, 25 years now. I got to watch the full dynasty kind of ascend and then descend. So to see us kind of back working our way up to the top is really cool. I love Victor. I love our new rookie, Dylan Harper, he's a lot of fun to watch. We've got a fun squad.
