Quick Quotes

Q. You had quite the ending there with those eagles. Walk us through that stretch there and how it feels being tied for the lead after one.

BEAU HOSSLER: Yeah, it was good, a good day. I guess I obviously hit two good shots, but who would have thought they'd both go in. Just had, I think, 65 yards or something on 6, and looked like it two-hopped and spun and went in, and then on the last hole I think I had maybe 145 or something, and again, just hit a good gap wedge, and right in the hole, right on the fly. Don't get those very often, but pretty stoked.

Q. Other than that, how would you kind of characterize your day today?

BEAU HOSSLER: It was okay. You know what, it's tough to be critical when you get some good breaks. The first hole of the day I got the biggest flier ever on a 9-iron. That would have been 70 yards over the green, and it hit the tarp on the camera tower and kicked back on to the green. That probably saved me a shot and a half there easily.

I feel like I've been getting some tough breaks on the course lately, but today was the exact opposite, so I'm very happy.

All in all, like I said, I played okay. I hit a lot of really good shots. Definitely had some that I wish I had back, but the wind was tricky today. It wasn't very consistent, and sometimes you get on holes where you don't really feel the wind much, but it's up there and you have to trust it, and I probably could have done a better job of that.

Q. Some real good rounds this year; your game is trending in the right direction. How do you take one round and put together a couple more rounds to keep yourself in the mix heading towards the weekend?

BEAU HOSSLER: I don't know. If I had the answer to that, I think we'd all do it, right? I think you just take it one day at a time. Golf is tough. The courses we play out here are tough. The conditions -- surprisingly this year I feel like we've had some pretty mediocre weather the last -- whether it's been rain or cold or significant wind. It's been challenging, which is great. I think it's great for players that are able to play in those conditions.

You know, this place can eat your lunch pretty quick or you can kind of get after it, depending on how you play. There's a big differential between good rounds and bad rounds here, which I think is an attribute of a really good golf course.

The next three days I'm just going to go try and do the exact same thing I did today and play smart, try and be as committed as I can when the circumstances are difficult.

Q. Having played at UT, is there added familiarity playing this course? You've played here before a number of times in the past.

BEAU HOSSLER: Yeah, I think so. There's a unique wind today. Normally this tournament in particular it's really hot and we get a south wind, and today was kind of a northwest, which is in my experience very unique in the state of Texas really. Normally it's kind of a south, southeast or a northeast wind.

Yeah, I've played here, shoot, probably -- it has to be 20 or 30 times. Not many courses I can say that about on the PGA TOUR that we normally just play on four times a year. I think I played a college tournament here, and this is probably my fourth or fifth Charles Schwab Challenge, too.

I love the course. Can't say I've had tremendous results here in the past that I can remember, but never for a lack of liking the venue at all.
