Harold Varner III

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you characterize that day today?

HAROLD VARNER III: It was good, yeah. Obviously talking to Rex, I didn't know it was bogey-free. But when the wind is up like that, you just want to hang in there, and I thought I did a really good job of that for sure.

Q. What was the toughest part of the conditions for you today?

HAROLD VARNER III: Nothing. I don't control them, so I don't think much of it. I'm just trying to execute the shot at hand.

I think I hit it really well to start off so that just got the round super easy, but then got a little wayward hitting in a few places where you know you're not going to hit the green, you've just got to put it in a spot where you can get it up-and-down.

Q. You said you've played with Jordan here a couple times before. Is that kind of a nice relaxing pairing to be able to go out and play on Saturday like this?

HAROLD VARNER III: For sure. I think you can get in those pairings and it can be just you and your caddie. It's not a very fun place to be. I like to have fun, so it gets a little tough. I can only talk to my caddie so much. I love him and all, but yeah, what else are we going to talk about?

Q. I know we've talked about it before, just trying to win on the PGA TOUR. You said you've learned from some of the mistakes you've made in the past. How do you bring that new knowledge into tomorrow when you're trying to win here?

HAROLD VARNER III: I think it's for a person like myself and other people, I think if you want to learn and you want to win, I think you kind of just take a little bit here and there, nothing specific where I need to do this tomorrow. I think you go play golf and execute the best you can and have fun with it. It's a game. I really love competing. Like that's what makes it so fun. Everyone is like, what do you love the most about golf. I'm like, I love trying to beat other people. Everyone is like, beat the course. If I only played the course, I wouldn't play golf.

Just looking forward to the challenge. It's going to be a spot out there where it's going to look not great and adversity is going to hit and you're going to have to respond.

Q. What did you learn from your win in Saudi?

HAROLD VARNER III: Crazy s--- can happen. Man. You're sitting there on -- you just never know. You're never out of it. Like going back, thinking about it while you're asking me, you're sitting there on 17, I'm in the bunker and I'm two shots down, I'm like, how can I tie. Just believe you can do -- anything can go in from anywhere, obviously.
