Quick Quotes

Q. So you birdied the first hole and then the 9th hole and then had three bogeys in between that. What was it like to get off to that start there?

COREY CONNERS: Obviously birdieing the 1st is what we're trying to do. It was a great start. Things just didn't go my way on the rest of the front nine until 9, hit it close again. Gave myself chances to save par on those holes I made bogey, but wasn't able to convert and, yeah, just a couple loose shots and couple bad bounces I guess.

Q. You kind of put that past you on the back nine, you got the birdie and then the eagle. How important was that to get right back on track?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, it was nice. I still felt good about the game and good about things and was just trying to battle hard. Made a great par on 12, actually. Yeah, great to eagle the 13th there. Yeah, feel things feel a lot better when do you that.

Q. Then that putt on 16 about that 40-foot for birdie. How were you feeling after that?

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, I felt great. It really was kind of a tricky putt, broke a couple different ways, had some speed to it, but felt like I saw it pretty well and hit a nice putt there, and it's always a bonus to see those drop in.

Q. (Question about the Olympics.)

COREY CONNERS: Yeah, huge honor to represent Canada at the Olympics again. It was a big goal of mine, since playing in Tokyo three years ago, that I really wanted to represent Canada again. I feel for Adam Hadwin, he was playing some really good golf as well and I was able to just sneak by him, so really happy and excited to get to go to Paris and it will be a lot of fun playing alongside Nick.
