Quick Quotes

Q. 6-under for the day. I know it was probably not the way you wanted to finish the final hole.

VAUGHN TAYLOR: Yeah, I played solid today. Really didn't know what to expect, so all in all, take 6-under.

You know, just played really well today. I'm pleased.

Q. 16th start here. What's it like having it be so familiar around the course?

VAUGHN TAYLOR: Yeah, it's pretty what got me through today. Been struggling a little bit physically and haven't been putting very well, but coming into here I told myself, you know, I know this course, how to play it, just go do it.

That's kind of how I did today. Just tried not to think about too much and just play golf.

Q. You had that bogey on 18, middle of the round, and you bounced back on 1 and birdied back. How big was that?

VAUGHN TAYLOR: Yeah, that was huge. I hate three-putting and that was a tough putt. You know, nice to come back at 1.

They had a new tee there that was straight into the wind today, so had 7-iron in there. Tough pin tucked on right with a 7-iron, so pleased to make birdie there for sure and get the momentum back.

Q. And first 17 holes you had 100% greens in regulation, until the final one. How were you hitting your irons there?

VAUGHN TAYLOR: I hit them pretty good. I didn't realize I didn't miss a green until then.

You know, all in all, struck it pretty well. The wind was kind of blustery and tricky at times. I hung in there and hit some good shots.

Q. You always know you got to be low when you come here. When you look at the leaderboard now, you see J.T. 9-under, do you like having a number to chase tomorrow? What's your mentality heading into tomorrow?

VAUGHN TAYLOR: Yeah, just trying to think five a day was kind of my thought yesterday. If you get one extra or a couple more, it's great.

But you never know. 9-under is a great score today for sure. I don't see anybody shooting that in the afternoon. I'll take 6, and you know it's going to be around 20, could be a little more. Never know.

So I was thinking five a day.

Q. Does that change now when you look at the leaderboard?

VAUGHN TAYLOR: No, not at all. Just going to go out and do the same thing tomorrow and have the same thoughts and keep it simple.

Q. A number of starts here, seen the course, know the course. Is the course any different this year in your estimation after all the work that got done last year?

VAUGHN TAYLOR: It's a little different, but not dramatically. No. 1 is different now. I like the change there. Played with some guys last year that were driving it 30 yards from the front of the green and that's just ridiculous.

Now it's a little more -- you know, for the longer guys going to squeeze in up there for them. For me it's no big deal. Just rip driver and probably have longer club in.

I like that change.

2 was different for sure, kind of those bunkers kind of mingled in there, and that was straight into the wind today, too, so that was a tough tee shot.

Other than that, everything is pretty right there in front of you. Nothing dramatic. Still feels like the same course.
