Quick Quotes

Q. You qualified and now you're sitting in third.

CHRIS NAEGEL: I guess that's the old saying, so we'll see.

Q. Terrible question, I guess. (Laughter.) What has been different here this time out as opposed to the last couple times?

CHRIS NAEGEL: I know the golf course fairly well. Played it a bunch now and just putted well last couple days, so that's probably the difference.

Q. Then what's the difference with the putting? Have you done anything different since your last time here with the putting stroke or...

CHRIS NAEGEL: I switched putters right before U.S. Open sectionals, so that got me through to the sectionals to the U.S. Open and just kind of stuck with it.

Maybe it's something with the new putter.

Q. What are you using it?

CHRIS NAEGEL: Ancer style Ping. Went from a mallet to a blade.

Q. Have the greens this week then affected how you putt or how you approach putting or what?

CHRIS NAEGEL: No. I'm used to playing on greens similar speeds all the time, so it's very similar back home. We have bentgrass, so it's very similar.

Q. How much can you draw on '15 when you made the cut here last time? It was like 50th place, but obviously made the cut; had a decent week. How much do you draw on that at all?

CHRIS NAEGEL: Haven't thought about that, to be honest. You know, I had fun playing in '17 -- was it '17, '18.

Q. '15.

CHRIS NAEGEL: '15. Okay, can't remember. Had fun. Having fun again this week, so it's helping me with my good play I guess.

Q. What's the mindset now that you're five shots off the lead?

CHRIS NAEGEL: Go out and play one hole at a time.

Q. One hole at a time, come on.

CHRIS NAEGEL: That's what we do.

Q. Bad question, bad answer. (Laughter.) No, but does anything change now that you made the cut? You're in a position to cash a pretty decent check at this point. Does the mindset change for the weekend?

CHRIS NAEGEL: I don't think so. It's just golf. That's the way I look at it. It's like playing at home, just a different arena.

Q. Even with the setup and the crowds?

CHRIS NAEGEL: Yeah, played in front of crowds before, so...

Q. Okay. No added pressure for the weekend? Still go out and freewheel it, playing with house money?

CHRIS NAEGEL: Yeah, I got nothing to lose. Just go out and have fun. That's the way I look at it. I got no expectations, no goals. Just going to go out and play.
