Quick Quotes

Q. Can you assess your round for us?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: It was a long day, man. I mean, I thought we were going to play obviously yesterday, came back out 6:30 ready to go and, man, just thunder kept coming and it was a long day now two days almost for the most part. And then wasn't feeling great on Wednesday, body was a little sour. But was able to fix it nicely, thank goodness. Wednesday night. And then came back out, I was hitting the ball really, really well yesterday, started off really, really well and unfortunately just kind of got it going the wrong way today. Golf swing kind of went out of whack a little bit. The driver just wasn't performing the way I wanted to. And I wedged it really well I was really proud of myself the way I handled, you know, hitting a couple out of bounds and just not having the best of my game. So all in all it's not my best, but certainly worked hard to get it in and here for the weekend.

Q. How bad were the taunts out there?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Oh, they weren't taunts at all, it was flattering. I think it's absolutely flattering what they're doing. They can keep calling me that all day if they want to, I've got no issue with it. When you look at it, there's obviously a distraction -- to most people they think it's a distraction, but I grew up learning how to deal with that stuff and I honestly thought it was flattering.

Q. Did you have people escorted out or did you point out people to be escorted out?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: The officers take care of that. I don't really care.

Q. So you didn't --

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: I don't mind. There's obviously people going to say stuff at inappropriate times, but that's different than what they're saying. I don't care.

Q. Been kind of a wild 10 days since this whole thing started, I'm just curious what -- were you surprised just how it's grown to what it has gotten to with you and Brooks?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Yeah, I mean, look, I've got nothing against him. I've got no issues at all. If he wants to play that game, that's great. I'm going to keep trying to play my best game and when it comes down to it, when somebody's that bothered by someone else it is flattering.

Q. We remember the thing at the Northern Trust a couple years ago and then it seemed to die down. Was there anything in between there?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: He's had stuff with other people too. Like Rory and numerous others. So this isn't a one-off thing. So, you know, it's just the way he deals with stuff and I'm totally fine with it.

Q. Were you bothered by people calling you Brooks?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: No, it's flattering. Like I said, I said it was flattering. I think that, no matter what, he's a great player and he's won a lot of tournaments and it's like somebody calling me Jack or Payne or Hogan or whatever. I think it's kind of fun.

Q. Anyone ever called you Hogan?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Oh, yeah. Oh yeah. I'm not at all like him, I mean, I wish I was, I would have a better career probably already, but. No, I'm proud of the way that I've handled the situation. I think that people think that it bothers me, it really doesn't. I mean, that one video clip that came out the other day it was more of the person saying it in my back swing than anything that bothered me. It wasn't the fact that he said Brooksy or whatever, it was just, he said something at an inappropriate time. If he said peanut butter and jelly at the wrong time I would have probably said the same thing. They can say whatever they want, I've got no issue.

Q. Have you asked security to help out with this?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: They take care of that. Yeah, obviously just saying -- there's going to be people saying things at the wrong time. I don't care what they say. Like if they say that, it's not a big deal to me, it's flattering. But I'll also say that if they say it during a back stroke that's, that's different. That's like saying anything during a back stroke.

Q. Did that come up today?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Yeah, there was one or two.

Q. During a swing?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: Yeah, there was a couple. But that's just what it is. That's something that the officers deal with.

Q. Knowing the USGA is the way they are, have you either talked to them or have they talked to you to avoid any kind of --

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: I really don't know what they're going to do, to be honest.

Q. Any conversation with them?

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: They have talked a little bit about it, but I don't know what they'll do.

Q. They make you nervous though, don't they? That's a weird group sometimes.

BRYSON DECHAMBEAU: No. Again, like I said, everybody thinks it's a big deal, it's not to me.
