Quick Quotes

Q. It's always nice to shoot a 7-under 65 on a Sunday at any tournament and move up. But pretty impressive round at this golf course. Some thoughts on the round today. Seven birdies, no bogeys.

JIMMY WALKER: Yeah, that's the best I've ever gone around this place. Its always kind of kicked me in the rear every time I come here. But I've been working really hard. I hit it pretty nice this week and today it was kind of, I felt like, man, I really kind of had it all together and I haven't in a long time. So it's, it really feels nice.

Q. You say working pretty hard. Is there any specific aspect in your game that you've been working on to reach this point or just all of it?

JIMMY WALKER: All of it. Everything's been pretty bad. So I've just struggled a lot the last two, three years and just not been able to get it together, put it together, and I've been busting my butt.

Q. So this week it must give you a little bit of confidence going forward the rest of the season, no doubt?

JIMMY WALKER: Yeah, I had some magic on Friday and yesterday I played solid too. But, man, it's been right there and a day like today was right there and I know it has and I've been trying to stay as patient as possible. It's been rough. I haven't been having a whole lot of fun and just grinding my tail off.

Q. How do you not get discouraged when you have an extended period when you're not playing well?

JIMMY WALKER: I don't know because I've been pretty discouraged. You got to believe that hard work pays off. Sometimes it doesn't and it hasn't been for me, but maybe it's just taken longer than I would have liked. And today was definitely a step. It really shows a lot of maybe light at the end of the tunnel, especially for a place that I never played well at.

Q. You were on the cusp of getting into the field here, right? Weren't you close to --

JIMMY WALKER: I was in the field. There was a computer glitch in the system. I registered within time on 2 o'clock last Friday, at Colonial, and I got my e-mail confirmation from the TOUR that I had a spot in the field and for whatever reason the computer didn't like me or something and it didn't put me in the field. So my caddie gets here and he's, like, man you're not in the field, and I said, That's impossible. I've got my e-mail confirmation. And so, yeah, I knew I was good to go.

Q. What's that like to get here, even if you know, you're not on the list? That's got to be disconcerting.

JIMMY WALKER: I mean, I've got my code that I've gotten in. I've got the e-mail confirmation. You have registered for the Memorial Tournament. So I knew I was good and I couldn't quite figure out -- I didn't know what was going on, but I knew I had registered and I knew I was in the field and when I got here they just said, Man, there was a hiccup on the computer and we're looking into it.

Q. How long did it take to get resolved?

JIMMY WALKER: I don't know. I didn't really worry about it. I knew I was fine.

Q. But you knew you were in?

JIMMY WALKER: Yeah, yeah.
