Q. Ten points today. Can we get comments on your second round?
JOEL DAHMEN: I actually might have played better golf today. I hit my irons a lot better. But I didn't make any putts today. I made a couple, but I missed a couple shortly as well. Have a double on the card.
That's the thing out here: That minus three really stinks. Just a little sloppy in spots. But overall I played really well. To finish with three in a row coming in helps a lot.
Q. Take us through that stretch, 7, 8, 9.
JOEL DAHMEN: 7, it was tricky today because it was so cold this morning. Started to heat up. The ball starts to travel a lot further. We had a couple of holes, airmail on the green. Hit a good shot to about 30 feet. Just had really good speed on 7. It went in. 8, hit a great drive just off the green, chipped off to three feet, tapped it in. On 9, had a perfect number for gap wedge. Spun it back. Almost went in. The crowd was getting a little loud there. So we were hoping we were going to it drop.
Q. You mentioned 17. What happened there?
JOEL DAHMEN: I hit it in the left bunker, which is a no-go to that pin. And I hit my bunker shot, went over the green, had a very simple up-and-down. Didn't get that one up-and-down.
It's one of those things that maybe instead of playing for par, you almost just play for bogey, because bogeys don't hurt that bad out here. Doubles kill you. Maybe in hindsight you just try to get that thing on the green, get out of there with a bogey.
Q. Take us through a little bit the mindset, almost like two different courses when you start out when it's cold compared to later in the round.
JOEL DAHMEN: We all knew it was going to be chilly this morning. And I think kind of the smoke in the air probably made it chillier. That was difficult. We started off at five percent this morning. We felt that was okay. It changed within like two holes. It heated up really quick. We all took our sweaters off, and the ball started traveling again. We tried to go to seven percent for a hole. And all of a sudden that went over the green. We immediately went to 10 percent and luckily it worked out coming home.
Q. Already been a good year for you. 78th in the FedExCup. You don't have to worry about getting into the playoffs. But I know you want to make a deep run. This could be a big week for you.
JOEL DAHMEN: Yeah. To get my first win was huge this year. But other than that, it hasn't been great. I think I've only had one other top 10. It's been a little bit of a struggle. But the goal's always to make it to Atlanta, the TOUR Championship. So a good week here helps. And then a playoff push.
So obviously my game's in a good spot right now. Hopefully we can get it going this weekend and try to just get some more points.
