Q. Did you find something on the boat yesterday, clear your mind a little bit?
VINCE WHALEY: We ended up not being able to make it to the boat, so I was pretty upset about that, but maybe we can do it a different day.
Q. Leader in the clubhouse, birdie on 18, a really impressive day, how do you feel about your Saturday?
VINCE WHALEY: Yeah, I felt really good about it. I had a horrible warm-up session and kind of went out and played pretty good after that. So, yeah, I felt really good. Drove it well, ironed it well. Left a few putts out there, but it was a good day.
Q. You said it was a horrible warm-up session?
VINCE WHALEY: Just terrible.
Q. What about it?
VINCE WHALEY: I just hit it everywhere, but I'm used to that.
Q. Can you talk about the eagle on the third hole.
VINCE WHALEY: Yeah, that was very big. Eagles are nice out here. Just hit an 8-iron in there and made a little 20-footer up the hill. That definitely got the round going.
Q. Would you say that was the highlight of round today?
VINCE WHALEY: Yeah, probably so. I mean, yeah.
Q. This is your 17th start this season. How are you feeling about things overall, grand scheme?
VINCE WHALEY: I felt like I got off to a bad start, and I felt like I played some really good golf in the middle and just was kind of having one bad round a tournament. But I felt like I played some good golf, and then the last two events played like crap, but other than that I felt like it's been trending in the right direction, so, hopefully.
Q. I'm sure this helps your confidence level going into tomorrow, being in contention, looking for a first win?
VINCE WHALEY: Yeah, for sure. I mean, I definitely need it, I'm pretty far down, so I need some points, so anything helps.
Q. You said you were going to go on the boat yesterday, so you have friends and family, wife?
VINCE WHALEY: I have a wife here and I'm staying with my caddie, one of my best buddies, we're all in a house. It didn't work out, but it's okay.
Q. What would it mean to win with your wife here with you this week?
VINCE WHALEY: I mean, it would mean a lot. She's been -- fiance', I should say. We're about to be married in two months, so it's coming up, but it would obviously mean a lot. She's been there through all the ups and downs of this terrible sport we play so, yeah, it would be cool.
