Quick Quotes

Q. Great finish, consecutive birdies; what did you like about your round today?

MARTIN LAIRD: Yeah, the finish. Birdieing the last three holes really helps. Before that I was just playing nicely, wasn't making as many birdies as the days before, but was just trying to stay patient and then had a real nice up-and-down on 15 and then obviously birdieing the last three. Those last four holes were nice.

Q. With the format do you come out with any different strategy with your caddie on being more aggressive, especially towards the end there?

MARTIN LAIRD: Not really. We talked about it early in the week; maybe on a par-5 or a drivable par-4 if it was one on a regular week you would maybe consider laying up, this week we're going for it.

But apart from that, it's kind of like, this course if you drive it well is not the longest. You've got a lot of short irons so you can kind of be aggressive anyway because you're hitting a lot of mid irons and short irons in here. Try to keep doing that tomorrow, but I'm playing nicely. Played really well the last two days, as well, so just keep doing it and have some fun tomorrow.

Q. You've played this tournament a handful of times. This is your first time at this course, others were at Montreux before?

MARTIN LAIRD: Yeah, love this tournament. Always like playing at altitude, love being in the mountains. I live in Denver, so it's not strange for me with how far the ball goes. I kind of know my numbers at this altitude, which is nice.

I love always playing up in the mountains, and this is a new venue, and this course is fantastic. I've really enjoyed my week here, and I feel like I'm learning the course a little more every day, so enjoying being here.

Q. Family here this week; where are you guys staying? Have you been able to do anything in the area?

MARTIN LAIRD: Yeah, we came out a couple days early, took a little early trip and rented a house 50 minutes away from here up in the mountains, and we've just hanging out. It's been great having them. They've not traveled for a while with COVID and then my kids being in school. It's a lot harder for them to travel, so it's really nice having them out this week. It's been very relaxed and going to continue that tomorrow and see what happens.
