Quick Quotes

Q. Adam, how would you describe the round today?

ADAM SCOTT: It was a good round. I played really well overall, I thought, and there's no doubt the course is playing tougher later in the day. Very tricky on the greens and around the greens. Overall I was very solid. I guess one takeaway for tomorrow I think would be to win, I've just got to hit the putts with a lot of trust and hope it's my day, hope that hole gets in the way.

Q. Does it feel like old times being in the hunt, or is it a little bit different not having contended as often as you'd like?

ADAM SCOTT: It feels good. I feel comfortable -- I mean, I don't know, I feel very comfortable. It's far less frustrating, that's for sure. I'm playing in a lot better state of mind being in this position than when I'm not.

Q. You obviously have a lot of past successes, many years to draw on. Is there something when you get in these positions that you draw on on a Sunday when you're in contention?

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, I think it's all for me to gain and nothing to lose. I've kind of done a fair amount and I've been in these positions a lot. All eyes are on World No. 1 playing with me today and all the young stars, and I'm the old man getting dragged around. I feel like it's all a bonus for me. Playing with that kind of level of comfort is a nice thing. I'm still working hard and it's not easy to do it, but it's a nice way to be on the golf course.

Q. When there's a large crowd following and they're all yelling "Scottie" but maybe not for you, did you pretend? Did you know what the situation was?

ADAM SCOTT: They must have been yelling for Ted Scott out there. It's happened before.

Q. Was it an interesting scenario? Clearly it's used to what you're hearing back home, you hear Scottie a lot, but it was going both ways.

ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, we've actually only ever played together once before, and that was at the Masters this year, and we had that situation there, as well. I just pretend it's all for me and feel like Mr. Popular.

Q. You just sort of made a joke about being dragged around by the young guys, but do you feel that your game is not up to their levels anymore, or do you feel that you give away something to them now that perhaps you might not have 10 years ago?

ADAM SCOTT: No, certainly not in physical attributes on the course. I think I've kept myself in good shape and I can hit the shots that I need to hit to compete with them and stuff. But I think what's harder for me now is to maintain a level of focus throughout a course of 12 months is more difficult as life goes on. I think for me to play at the top level again, I have to figure out how I can switch on and off in those time periods when I need to and keep my game at a high level. It's something that I've got to work towards.
