Q. How gratifying is it to play your way into East Lake and the TOUR Championship?
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, it's really good. I guess that's the beauty of the FedExCup Playoffs the way they are. You can scratch it around a lot for the year and have a couple good weeks and get heavily rewarded by getting to East Lake and being in that top 30 and all the perks that come with it.
This week was a great event, and I felt like I played some really good golf. Today was a bit of a struggle, but still managed to have a decent score.
Q. What was the degree of difficulty on the greenside bunker shot as well as the approach shot where your feet are in there and ball way above your feet?
ADAM SCOTT: Well, you can debate which is the harder shot. It shows you that it was a tough day for me because neither were a good position. I think I was a little unlucky off the tee shot. Anything could have happened with the second shot. It came out not well, but it could have come out worse.
I hit a really -- I'm trying to remember the round. It was actually yesterday, I think. Yeah, yesterday I hit a really nice long bunker shot on my second hole, and when I was in there kind of weighing up the shot, it just looked similar. I just had those kind of thoughts and took a swing at it, and it worked out.
Q. After all these years, is it still a nerve-racking shot knowing what's at stake with that?
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, I didn't fully know, but I knew there probably was not a lot of wiggle room from the start of the day.
You know, it's really -- what's tricky is when the tournament kind of is out of reach with two to go. When my putt doesn't go in on 17, it's really not going to happen for me; they're not going to come back to 12. But still kind of nervous playing the last because not knowing is weird. Especially when you're baseball swinging your sand wedge from 130 or something.
Q. Do you feel like you're playing your best golf of the season right now?
ADAM SCOTT: Yeah, yeah. This week I felt like I played really high-quality golf. I was out there with Scottie Scheffler yesterday who's obviously played incredible this year, and I felt like I was playing at that high, high level again, and I haven't been in so many of those situations this year. But I felt like my game stacked up, and I felt like a top player.
Hopefully stuff to build on this week, and go for it next week with really nothing to lose and head into the next season full of confidence and hopefully keep my head in this place where I feel like I'm one of the best players out here.
