Q. Harris, how would you characterize the round today?
HARRIS ENGLISH: I got off to not a great start. Thought I hit a pretty good tee ball on 1 and kind of had to hit a baseball shot out of the bunker. Ball was in the rough, feet were in the bunker, and bogeyed the first hole. That's one of the easiest holes out here.
I knew I was playing well, get it back and started getting things rolling on the front nine, and really found something in my putting this week. Been struggling with that the last two weeks on Bermudagrass, which is usually my favorite, and kind of went back to the basics and did some setup stuff and started getting the confidence going in the putting, and that makes a huge difference.
Q. Is it sometimes that simple, just some basic stuff?
HARRIS ENGLISH: It was really just my ball position. Just kind of when you stop doing some of the fundamentals it gets off a little bit, and then you start trying to force it in, and it gets worse and worse.
Moved the ball back a little bit, and it's just nice to see something go in. I made some -- last couple weeks, just those eight- to 15-footers, just didn't make a whole lot of them, and today made some good pars from eight, nine feet and then made some good birdie putts like the one on 17 and 18 to -- you've got to convert those.
Q. How have you handled the pressure the last couple weeks? Last week having to play well down the stretch on the weekend to get in here and then now knowing what you have to do to move on to East Lake. How do you handle or compartmentalize the pressure of these couple weeks?
HARRIS ENGLISH: Yeah, I would say last week was probably the most stressful because I know how key getting in the top 50 for next year was, and at a place, Memphis, that I'm used to playing well, and got my first victory there, and just didn't play well.
Played good the last day to hopefully solidify the top 50, but it was kind of stressful watching those guys coming down the stretch, and Hideki getting on that run birdieing five out of the last six to jump past me, and you never want to not have the ball in your hands and watching guys pass you trying to get in that top 50.
I feel like this week is kind of a bonus, kind of playing with house money, and definitely more relaxed this week, and just kind of free wheeling it.
But the game has been there. Just haven't scored very well, and finally starting to score better and getting up-and-down when I need to and make those 12- and 15-foot birdie putts when I hit it in there pretty tight.
I'm excited about the next couple days. I've played good around this golf course. I like the lines off the tees, and it's one of my favorite golf courses we play.
Whatever happens this weekend happens. I'm going to give it all I have and see where it shakes out in the end.
