Q. How would you compare your first and second rounds this week?
BRIAN HARMAN: Today was a lot more gritty round for sure. I didn't drive the ball quite as well. I was hitting the ball solid, just couldn't get it where I wanted it to go. When I got it where I wanted it, I could attack the holes and made some birdies.
Just got to tighten it up off the tee, but it's a hard and somewhat kind of awkward driving place. A lot of the tee shots visually just kind of make me a little uncomfortable. I'll try and get over that tomorrow and hit it a little bit better.
Q. Are the gritty rounds sometimes rounds you can be proud of, that you scored maybe when you didn't play your best?
BRIAN HARMAN: Yeah, no doubt. I was just a little impatient today. I had such a good warmup, was really excited to get out there, and then it became kind of apparent around the turn, like, man, this is just one of those days when you've got to grind it out.
Q. How was your putting now compared to the week you won the Open? Do you feel like you're still rolling it as well?
BRIAN HARMAN: Yeah, I'm putting a lot of good rolls on it. Obviously I didn't mis-hit many putts that week. I've mis-hit a couple this week. I think I probably had a little better feel for the greens over there than I've had so far this week, but hopefully grab a little momentum and putt a little better this weekend.
Q. How much do you like playing in this part of the country? You won at John Deere, played great at Erin Hills and now a chance for the Illinois sweep here, so to speak?
BRIAN HARMAN: Yeah, I love coming up north. I'm a tree guy. I love -- beautiful trees here. Very jealous of the oak trees here. I love coming up here, and it's always enjoyable to come.
Q. From your experience, you'd like to win this week I'm sure, but in terms of next week and the staggered start, how important is that, to finish as high as you can?
BRIAN HARMAN: Yeah, especially with the guys that are up there at the top, having to start -- I don't even know how it works, four or five shots behind them would be really, really tough. They're already very, very good.
That's a tough golf course next week, so yeah, I've got to play really well this weekend if I'm going to have any chance next week.
Q. Did you see a 62 out there? How good was that round by Max today?
BRIAN HARMAN: From Max, yes, I can see Max doing that very easily. He's very, very good. I played with him last week and felt like his game was very impressive last week. I'm not surprised that Max Homa shot 62.
Q. What does surprise you?
BRIAN HARMAN: What does? Cool weather in September in St. Simons. That surprises me.
