Ludvig Aberg

Quick Quotes

Q. Were the conditions easier today? What was the key for you?

LUDVIG ABERG: I guess the greens were a little bit softer, so you could be a little bit more aggressive and get away with a little bit more, I guess.

I still felt like it was similar. The course is gettable. Felt like I was hitting it well. I was hitting a lot of fairways, and then you can be quite aggressive into the greens.

Q. Did you see that Adam had shot so low, that it was out there?

LUDVIG ABERG: Yeah, it was funny, me and Joe, walking down one of the first couple of holes. We talked about it yesterday, too, that we could see a low one, and we were just fortunate that it was us today.

Q. How do you carry this momentum into the weekend?

LUDVIG ABERG: Yeah, for sure. I think it's fun to be in this situation. It's fun to play good golf. I'm going to keep being aggressive even though I shot even par yesterday. I was still very aggressive, which I like. Yeah, I'm going to keep doing that and try to keep up and make a few birdies to catch Adam.

Q. You mentioned the greens being a little softer, but what about your game was different today from yesterday?

LUDVIG ABERG: Yeah, it was just a little bit more efficient. The misses that I had were a bit tighter. I had a couple misses yesterday that were quite big. I just didn't make those two doubles that I made yesterday, and I made a few more putts. Overall really pleased with how I played today.

Q. When you make that many birdies in the first round but shoot even, are you frustrated or do you feel like I can go make seven more tomorrow?

LUDVIG ABERG: I was encouraged, to be honest with you, because I felt like the mistakes that I made, they were still aggressive, which I don't really mind. I would rather make a 6 the aggressive way than a 5 with a bail-out swing, if you know what I mean. I still felt like I could go out there and make a lot of birdies, which I did today, as well.

Q. Two days in, the course is playing kind of schizophrenic. We've had people throwing clubs and people shooting 63. How did you think the course played?

LUDVIG ABERG: Yeah, I think so. It's a testament to a really good golf course, I think. If you play well and you hit the shots, you get rewarded. But as soon as you start missing fairways it gets really tricky. The rough is up, and all of a sudden you're playing away from the pins that you can be a little bit more aggressive with from the fairway.

But yeah, I can definitely say it's a great golf course. It's very true, and it's very fair.

Q. On 14 you have over 300 yards in. You still went after that pin. Did you mean to take that line? Is that where you wanted to --

LUDVIG ABERG: Well, I didn't try to go left of that pin. I was just trying to take it middle of the green. It came out -- it was a good number where I felt like if I hit it straight, it was going to stay short of that bunker, but if I tugged it it was still going to cover the water, which it did. Obviously I didn't try to go that far left, but every now and then you get away with those.

Q. You talked about playing at altitude in college. Did it take a day for you to get more comfortable in it again?

LUDVIG ABERG: Yeah, I think so. That's what we used these first couple days, Monday through Wednesday, just to kind of get a baseline of how far the ball is flying, and then it's just same thing as you would do in a normal tournament. The wind is going to affect it.

The tricky part here is you have a lot of elevation, as well; it's not only the altitude. So the ball stays in the air for a long time. Uphill it gets a little bit less effective. It's a lot of feel, as well, but I felt like we handled that very well.

Q. Adam Scott hasn't won in a few years on TOUR, but he's been playing well this weekend. Any thoughts on the 44-year-old kind of having a resurgence here this weekend?

LUDVIG ABERG: Yeah, Adam for me is an inspiration. He's been there for a long time, and what he's doing with that longevity is amazing. I look up to him a lot. It'll be fun to try to catch him this weekend.
