Quick Quotes

Q. You got yourself in contention; how was the day out there today?

ALEX NOREN: Yeah, it was a rough start. I thought I hit some good shots in the beginning, but it was so tough. On 3 and 4, playing yesterday morning early and then coming out today with a totally different golf course, it kind of got my attention. I was 3-over after four holes. Then coming in 2-under, I'm extremely happy and proud of myself for not getting down, and my caddie helped me a lot just trying to stay positive. There's a lot of golf left, and everybody is struggling out here in the wind.

Q. What did you tell yourself early on when you had those struggles? Did you tell yourself to boost yourself up a little bit?

ALEX NOREN: Yeah, I knew that when that happens, you just kind of start by hitting fairways and greens. That's what I did. Then finally, the putts started to drop. I hit some good shots on the back. It was good.

Q. What was the key down the stretch with those three consecutive birdies to finish?

ALEX NOREN: Well, I got some help from Ludvig playing first on 16. It was downwind, but downwind doesn't affect as much as on sea level. 8-iron was the perfect club, and I knew you just have to use that slope on the right because the water comes in really quick. Managed to put it right where you should. I kind of pushed it a few yards, but it turned out to be the right way.

Then played really well on 17, 18. It was nice.

Q. Are you embracing your position on the leaderboard right now? Obviously you have nothing to lose coming in here, 45th in the standings.

ALEX NOREN: Yeah, it's nice. Just trying to play good golf and work on all the things that I need to do to play good golf. That's all I'm focusing on.
