Q. What's been working best for you so far this week?
SAM BURNS: Yeah, I feel like I've played pretty solid overall. I think this golf course, if you can get the ball in the fairway, the greens are very receptive, and try to give yourself as many looks as possible.
Q. Seems like you've been making quite a few putts as well. You've second in strokes gained putting. Has that been something you've been working on a little bit?
SAM BURNS: Yeah, I think these greens are tricky and there's a lot of slope. So trying to get the ball in the right spot to give yourself a makeable putt I think is pretty important. I've been able to do that so far.
Q. You're 24th, I think, in the FedExCup. How have you approached what you need to do this week to make it another week?
SAM BURNS: Yeah, I think a lot of it's out of your control. You just go out and try to play good golf. That's really all I've tried to focus on this week and control what I can control. Other guys are going to go out and play, and I can't control if they play well or play bad or how much they move. Really just trying to focus on trying to put a good round together each day.
Q. Anything in particular -- you contend obviously in Canada and then again at the U.S. Open. Haven't maybe gotten to that level the last month or so. Anything in particular you feel like you've had to work on or something that's stopped working?
SAM BURNS: Not really. I think it's such a fine line between being in contention or not. I feel like I've played some good golf and just kind of maybe made a bad swing here or there or silly mistake to kind of keep myself from getting in that position.
Really just trying to clean it up, play some clean rounds and see what happens.
Q. Are you thinking at all about the Ryder Cup?
SAM BURNS: Not really. Like I said, a lot of it's out of my control. The only thing I can focus on is going out and trying to play good golf.
