Q. Presumably you've not given up hope. You're still right in this. What's the mindset?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, it's simple, just chasing. I put myself in a good position after two rounds, and shooting even par out here on TOUR is never going to get it done, unless it's blowing 100 miles an hour. Yeah, I just need to put my head down.
Q. What's it like playing with Scottie? How tough a competitor is he?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: Yeah, he's the No. 1 player in the world for good reason. He shows it week in and week out. He's just a really nice guy, so he's an easy person to sort of root for, and yeah, he's a very well-rounded player.
Q. As an elite professional golfer, when you get a disrupted break like you had twice yesterday, overnight, as well, how disruptive, how challenging is that for you?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: I mean, it's whatever you make of it. I obviously struggled to sort of get into any sort of shape yesterday with the 4:00 tee time and then pretty stagnant beginning of the round. A lot of everything, long putts, bogeys, birdies. Was not able to capitalize on anything coming in in this restart, which is where I need to do it, and yeah, I've got a lot of work to do upcoming here.
Q. You've done well as the chaser; why do you think a lot of your wins you've come from four or five back?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: It's just a freed-up mindset. You've got nothing to lose. There's no target on your back. Fortunately I've been on both sides of that now, so I need to tap into some older wins that I've had.
Q. What is it you admire most about Scottie's game?
XANDER SCHAUFFELE: He's just a scrambler. He's a grinder. I respect his competitiveness, his competitive nature, and he fights. He fights until the end. He doesn't give up on any shot.
