Q. That was some golf today; can you give us a rundown of all that went right?
RUSSELL HENLEY: Yeah. Kind of happened fast there at the end, but yeah, I started out -- I had a good par save on 2, had a really good up-and-down on 1 just to keep the momentum going there at the start of the round.
Made a 20-footer or so on 4, which is a tough hole for me especially. It's one of the longer ones straight uphill. You've got to hit a really flush high second shot to land it soft enough on that green because the greens are new, so that was a really big birdie for me.
I got a really good break on 5. I pulled my driver and it clipped a tree and came down in the fairway. That was a nice break.
Then from there, I just kept hitting good iron shots and making good mid-range putts.
Yeah, looking back, I hit it pretty well. I was a little off with the driver, but overall put it in the fairway a lot and was able to attack.
Q. Do you think Jim Furyk will pay attention to that round?
RUSSELL HENLEY: I hope so. Obviously a dream of mine to -- why I work so hard is to make one of these teams. Hopefully it works out.
Q. Is it going to be stressful the next 24 to 36 hours?
RUSSELL HENLEY: Not really. I mean, obviously my main goal every time I play is just to play well. I played well here, played great today, as good a round as I could ask for, so I'm not too stressed about it.
Q. If you had to describe what you would bring to the American team for the Presidents Cup, what would you say?
RUSSELL HENLEY: Just the fight. I definitely feel like athletically I don't have what a lot of these guys have in terms of distance and stuff. I always feel like I've been a grinder and a fighter, and I think I could definitely do that for the team.
Q. Can you walk me through the birdie on 13?
RUSSELL HENLEY: Yes, hit a perfect drive. My second shot I actually hit right at the pin and it came up much shorter than we anticipated and was on the fringe. Had like 25, 30 feet and read it right and made it. Definitely you're not going to be making birdie a lot from the front of that green, so it was fortunate.
Q. Were you able to watch the Bulldogs yesterday?
RUSSELL HENLEY: No, I was on the course the whole day. I wish I would have seen it. They're looking good, though.
