Q. This is one you've wanted, and the last couple years you've come here and it didn't work out. The emotions of winning the TOUR Championship now?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, it's a lot of fun. We've put in a lot of work to get to this point, and it's been a long week. Right now I'm just pretty tired, so don't really know how to put this into words. But it's a pretty special feeling to be finally holding the trophy.
Q. I thought your tee shot at 9 after what had happened on the last few holes, to four feet, then you birdie 10 and 11, that seemed to be the key shot today.
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, 9 was a huge turnaround. Teddy gave me a nice pep talk there on the back of 8 green because I kind of looked at him like, man, I don't know about this; this isn't looking so hot right now. He kind of gave me a little pep talk and then I was able to hit a really nice iron shot in there and got things rolling.
Q. Sum up this season, another PLAYERS, another Masters, a gold medal. That seems to get the most cheers out of all the fans, that gold medal. Now the TOUR Championship. What does this mean?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, I think the gold medal is pretty cool. I think when you hear people chanting "U-S-A," even though it's been over a month now since it happened, you still hear people talking about it, chanting. It's pretty cool. Like I said, I take a lot of pride in being an American, so pretty fun to bring home that gold medal.
As far as the year goes, I really don't know how to put it into words.
Q. You had a little problem on 7, a little problem on 8. What did you do to recalibrate your focus and get things going the right direction again?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Yeah, I got off to a good start and then I had obviously the two holes there on 7 and 8, and Teddy did a good job of keeping me focused. Was able to hit a nice shot in there into 9 and really change the momentum.
Q. What were the words that Teddy said that got you back on track?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I'm not going to give away all our secrets. But Teddy has always been my biggest supporter. I think the results speak for themselves after he was able to pick up my bag and start helping me. He really is a huge part of the team. I don't know if I'd be able to do any of this without him on my bag. We've got a great relationship.
He has a habit of saying the right thing at the right time to kind of keep me in the right frame of mind.
Q. Coming here the last two years, now you've done it. Does that make it sweeter, the past two years?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I think a little bit. I try not to think too much about the past or think too much about the future, but I think two years ago was pretty tough, having a good lead going into the last round and not playing my best and then losing, and then last year I just had a pretty off week so was fairly disappointing.
So come in with a lead for the third time and be able to finish it off is definitely pretty sweet.
Q. You've got a little bit of golf left; the Presidents Cup is right around the corner. Seven wins on the PGA TOUR, gold medal at the Olympics, had some interesting moments at Valhalla at the PGA Championship but of course it's punctuated this year by what you and Meredith were able to celebrate, the birth of your son. As you look back on this year, what are the lessons that you have learned?
SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: That's a good question. I feel like I've lived almost a full lifetime in this one year. It's been nuts. I don't know, I think it just always comes back to my faith. I think that's the thing that just keeps me grounded, keeps me in the right frame of mind.
