Q. What do you recall the support being like at those events from the Chicago golf community, and what would it mean to have a tournament here like we used to have?
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, Chicago is an unbelievable city. They've got great sports fans, and I've really enjoyed every time I've came here back to the college days. There's so many great golf courses. It's an unbelievable city.
Really when Chicago is on the schedule, I'm looking forward to coming here and playing. Certainly this week is no different, but it's a great sports city, and it's a city I think that the PGA Tour should be at every year.
Q. What was the college event? Was that the event scholars, something like that?
COREY CONNERS: A few different ones. Played a regional. Northern Illinois hosted a couple of events. Northwestern hosted an event. Played I think three or four times in college. A long time ago now.
Q. We're all like that. What's it been like for you so far this week?
COREY CONNERS: The week has been great. Love the golf course. Obviously a little bit softer with the weather.
But staying in the city. We're well taken care of. It's an unbelievable setup for myself and the whole team and our families, and I'm enjoying the week so far.
Q. When they were saying you were taking a 45-minute to an hour bus ride, that's why. You're downtown?
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, we're staying downtown.
Q. Does your team have a mentality this week, like a Shield mentality you can point to?
COREY CONNERS: So I think kind of all playing for the Shield. We play for kind of a motto. We're playing for each other, playing for our captains, playing for our countries. That's kind of been the motto.
I feel like our group's really come together certainly this week, but all throughout the year. Captain Ogilvy has done a great job of getting us together a lot and bringing us closer together and kind of giving us something to play for.
Q. In terms of the players that you are closest with, I'm going to guess they're all of the same nationality as yourself, but you've been there for these past Presidents Cups as Mack has come and left, as Taylor has been involved, and now is not in the same role, and now this is Nick's first time. I guess, what do you see -- what role do you play in terms of the steady Canadian who is involved in this whole thing seeing some of his best friends come and go with it?
COREY CONNERS: Yeah, it's been great. I have fellow Canadians on the team with me. Obviously Taylor in a different role this year. Nick's first Presidents Cup.
Nick is a seasoned pro, but you know, just giving him a couple of pointers here and there, just kind of an idea of what to expect. This event is unlike anything we play all year.
The pressure is ramped up. It's a big stage. Playing with teammates, it's definitely different, but I've tried to give advice whenever I can. Certainly not overstep. Like I said, he's stepped up in a lot of big moments, and he's a seasoned PGA Tour pro, but it's fun to have the fellow Canadians alongside.
Q. You say that maybe a couple of pointers here and there. If I'm Nick Taylor and I'm playing my first Presidents Cup, what are those pointers?
COREY CONNERS: You know, I think sort of the intricacies of the different formats. They're not something we're familiar with. Kind of having some questions about alternate shot or questions about best ball and teeing off first, kind of sticking -- we talked about game plan a little bit on this golf course, sort of what we think might be the best and some pointers about the first tee, the atmosphere there, just trying to prepare yourself.
Q. Is there an obvious game plan or anything that you can divulge?
COREY CONNERS: Not really. I mean, obviously we're going to have to beat our opponents. We're going to have to make one more putt than them or make one more birdie than them. We've got to keep it simple. The way the golf course is playing, I think maybe you'll have to pick your spots and be aggressive.
Q. What was your reaction when you heard that President Trump announced he was going to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America?
COREY CONNERS: Honestly, I haven't read too much into that. Yeah, I don't really have an opinion one way or another.
