Quick Quotes

Q. How would you assess your round today?

DENNY MCCARTHY: It was really good. I didn't get off to a hot start, when guys were making birdies, so it was a little frustrating, but I stayed really patient and knew there was some birdie holes on the back nine. Made a nice long putt on 8 that kind of got things going a little bit and birdieing 10, long par-3 is a nice bonus. That kind of got my back nine kick started and just played really solid today. Found a few more fairways and wedged it nicely and at the end of the day it's a bogey-free 7-under.

Q. Only one bogey over the last 36 holes. You just said that you had an outside chance here to win last year, what is it about this place that you seem to like so well?

DENNY MCCARTHY: I don't know, it's just, living down in Florida the last five or six years I've gotten really comfortable with Bermuda greens. To me these are some of the best greens on TOUR, if not the best. Very similar to my home course I play Medalist and Turtle Creek down in Jupiter. So I'm just really comfortable on Bermuda, whereas maybe six or seven years ago I wouldn't have said I was that comfortable, but now I'm just, these greens are so pure you can, I see a line on them really well and I'm just used to Bermuda greens now and I think I have a good game plan and understanding of how to play this golf course. So combine that with good greens and it's right up my alley.

Q. Obviously going to be going right in the mix here tomorrow, what do you feel like you need to do well tomorrow to get over the hump and get that first win?

DENNY MCCARTHY: I think just have an aggressive mindset. Just come out and not be scared of anything, honestly. It's going to be a challenge tomorrow, I'm sure I'll feel a little nervous warming up or first tee jitters, whatever, but I think just come out and swing freely, not be scared. I've got nothing to lose, it's my fifth year out here, looking to win. I'm a really competitive person and I want to win out here and tomorrow's a great opportunity to do that. So I think I need to stay really focused on what I'm trying to do and stay aggressive and swing freely.

Q. Is it sometimes good to have a little bit of nerves, it means it means something?

DENNY MCCARTHY: Yeah, for sure. I tend to play well when I'm nervous. Sometimes when I'm too relaxed I'm not as focused. I wouldn't say I don't care, but I just, sometimes I'm just too relaxed and when I'm nervous or have that adrenaline going it sometimes narrows my focus a little bit. So I like the spot that I'm in tomorrow, that's what we're out here trying to do. I like to win and this is a great opportunity for me tomorrow, so I'm going to cherish the moment and enjoy the challenge and go out there and see what I can do.
