Q. Let's talk about the round today. Obviously something caught fire on the back nine. What was it for that nice stretch with the birdies and eagle?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I think that stretch of the golf course in general is the most scorable part. Then I hit a lot of quality shots and it had been a little time coming, it felt, because I made so many pars on the first 12 holes or so.
But that's just this golf course. Sometimes you can get on a little bit of a roll and start to make some birdies.
Q. Want to ask you about the green books. Any struggles with that this week not being able to use them? Are you someone that's used them in the past?
PATRICK CANTLAY: I haven't really consulted the green book too much in the past. Every once in a while I'll ask my caddie -- I used to ask my caddie to consult it. I don't think it will make too much of a difference for me.
Q. This 102-day break that you've now had since competition, I mean, you've taken plenty of time off before, but did you have any expectations in terms of sharpness or anything like that?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I still, I think I'm a little rusty and I saw that in my start. I got away with a couple of loose swings and one flier on the 6th hole where I was able to make a par, but maybe shouldn't have.
I got up-and-down a lot on the front nine, kind of saved myself, and then really got on a roll on the back nine.
Q. What was one of your better shots, do you think, on that final stretch?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I was really happy with the pitching wedge on 17. That was a tough pin and instead of playing a little safer with a controlled 9-iron I just hit a full pitching wedge so it could stop a little quicker and it worked out great.
Q. The times you've played here, which is not a ton, obviously, but the softness and the I guess the extra I don't know if you say length maybe but it certainly didn't play the same as it has recently.
PATRICK CANTLAY: Yeah, I mean it was very soft and that's just all the rain that they have been getting here. Like I was saying earlier, I don't think I've seen it this soft before, so if the wind doesn't blow like crazy I think it's going to be a really low-scoring week.
Q. Did you have any clubs today, and again I don't know what your experience was like weather-wise over the times you've been here, that you're normally hitting this and you were maybe going more mid iron?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Say that again.
Q. Any instances where you would normally be hitting maybe a shorter iron, but just because of the lack of roll you find yourself hitting a little bit more? Did anything stand out to you?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Not really.
Q. Are you with Rahm tomorrow?
PATRICK CANTLAY: Again, yeah.
