Kapalua, Maui, Hawaii, USA

Plantation Course at Kapalua

Brendon Todd

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you assess the week?

BRENDON TODD: I guess I was just knocking the rust off. Came out hot, and then had some struggles on the weekend. But I usually look back and say, did I drive it well, use my wedges well, and putt well. I had a really bad putting day Saturday and a really bad driving day today, but otherwise I played great.

Q. What was maybe the difficulty with the driver today?

BRENDON TODD: Just sometimes you make bad swings, that's really all there is to it.

Q. Other than the fact it didn't come all the way, didn't make it all the way home?

BRENDON TODD: Yeah, exactly.

Q. Next week, Sony, obviously completely different place than Kapalua. What are the challenges that you enjoy about Waialae so much?

BRENDON TODD: Well, I think it requires accuracy off the tee and elite wedge play. When you do get the ball in the fairway with a wedge in your hand you need to make birdie, because the scores are pretty low over there. It's a flat walk as well. So, after this week it just couldn't be more of a different golf course. It suits my game, you're hitting, driving it straight and accurate short iron play and putting.

Q. Does it help to go play a course that's so drastically different like that after playing Kapalua?

BRENDON TODD: We're over here in warm weather with Bermuda grass and wind, so those are the three things that we take next week. I think the guys that played here have a distinct advantage from having those three elements versus coming out of the cold or wherever you're living. Yeah, I think everybody that played well here that's going to Sony is going to be in a great spot.

Q. I was fascinated by your Georgia football stuff the other day. Thank you for that. When you see Chris out there in the lead, how much fun is that for you personally?

BRENDON TODD: It gets me really excited. I played with him the first two days, and he played so well. He's coming out of the gates really strong now, at least two years in a row. He usually always plays well at the Sony, and last year he played really well, I guess he finished second last year. Just another great start here in Hawaii for him, and, gosh, I guess he was 6-under again today through 11, so he's playing well and he'll have a good chance to finish it off.

Q. Obviously it's great to be here, it means you've done well. How much do you like this golf course, for the way the golf course is?

BRENDON TODD: Well, it's a fun golf course to play because it does give you reachable par-5s. For me it seems a little bit like there's a couple holes where, off the tee, I might hit a good drive and it runs into the rough. That's a disadvantage for me. It's pretty open. I wouldn't say it's a golf course I look at and think I have a distinct advantage on, but it's always a great place to come and it's a fun golf course to play.

Q. Do you feel like year by year your chances get better if you come back next year?

BRENDON TODD: Yeah, yeah, I think you keep learning about the golf course and learning what to do. For me, it's just important that it plays dry and it runs kind of look it did this year.
