Plantation Course at Kapalua

Scottie Scheffler

Quick Quotes

Q. How would you assess the day?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Very solid. Gave myself a lot of opportunities. I didn't have to struggle too much for pars. The wind picked up a decent amount out there, especially as we played the back nine. Outside of parring 18, it was a pretty good finish for me.

Q. When the wind did pick up, did it change how you tried to play the golf course, especially when you're getting onto the side that's a little more scorable?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: Well, yeah, it does it for us. No. 9's a good example. If we played No. 9 about the time we teed off, guys were hitting 5-wood and iron into that hole. I hit driver, 3-wood, and I still had 50 yards left, and I'm not necessarily one of the shorter players out here. So, stuff like that, it just, the golf course changes significantly with the wind and the wind plays a big factor. Just kind of how it is. That's how golf is. Sometimes the wind blows, sometimes it doesn't. You just got to figure it out from there.

Q. Does having a little bit of course knowledge, does that help around here?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I think so. You're playing golf on the side of a volcano, it's pretty different than a lot of the golf we play in the States. It's definitely a fun way to start the year, fun golf course to play. Even though the scores are low, I still feel like you're challenged a lot, because you got to keep the pedal down the whole time.

Q. Coming off a little bit of a break, does it get a little easier to kick the rust off a little bit as your career's moving on a little bit?

SCOTTIE SCHEFFLER: I think I just get more into knowing my routine for off time. Knowing how I get good rest, while also kind of staying fresh.
