Q. How did you find the course today?
TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: I hit it really good today. I hit a lot of good iron shots. Just felt like a relaxed round playing with a bunch of ams. I had a lot of fun.
Q. What did you find about this course that maybe you had heard about before but you had to see it to believe it?
TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: Well, my caddie said that this was the one you wanted to check out and see, because you can kind of lose the tournament on this course.
So I played a practice round yesterday. You can hit driver on a lot of holes, but there's some out of bounds. So I just tried to stay away from that as much as possible.
Q. So what was working best for you?
TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: I would say my irons today. I hit a lot of really good iron shots. I honestly didn't putt that great on some of 'em. Some of 'em were misreads. I kind of have a tough time reading the velvet bentgrass. For some reason I've always -- it's a grass in Scottsdale and I never putted on it that great.
But the iron shots were, I'm super happy with how I hit my irons today.
Q. If you look at your results since the beginning of the 2022-2023 season I think a lot of people would probably look at it and if you told 'em you were a rookie they would say, I don't think so. Do you still feel like a rookie a little bit or have your results made you a little more comfortable out here?
TAYLOR MONTGOMERY: Well, getting off to a good start always helps. That start in Napa kind of relaxes you a lot. I'm happy with the way that I've started. But I definitely don't feel like a rookie.
