Q. Another solid round. What's worked well so far this week?
MICHAEL KIM: For the most part, everything. I've been really rolling it really nice since Sony, and I worked on a couple things with my coach, Sean Foley, leading up to the week, and I know the adjustments I have to make and, hopefully, I can roll a few more birdies tomorrow.
Q. Being a West Coast guy, played here quite a few times over the years?
MICHAEL KIM: Yeah, whether it was IJGT, SCPGA, FCWT, all those junior tournaments, I played a lot of golf around here for sure.
Q. Got to feel like maybe the best conditions then you would have played it this, at least in terms of scoring?
MICHAEL KIM: A hundred percent. When the junior tournaments are here it's usually like during January and February, and I played it in like really windy conditions, or in the summer, when it's really hot. So, when it's perfect like this, it's a lot of fun.
Q. What have you kind of been trying to work towards in 2024? I saw on social media you were talking about mental work. What's been your goal as you start 2024?
MICHAEL KIM: I've been really trying to focus more on the process, rather than the result. Just making sure I get my fitness down the week before, some good practice, do what I need to do in the practice rounds. Hopefully, the results take care of themselves. So, so far, so good, I guess.
Q. Last fall, was it a wrist thing that was nagging you a little bit? Are you feeling back to where you want to be?
MICHAEL KIM: It's still bugging me here and there. It's gotten a lot better since last year. I think I first started feeling it in July, just a little bit of wrist tendonitis, but I've been doing my exercises, and it kind of comes and goes, but for the most part it's good.
Q. Being from southern California, going to Torrey, is it something special when you come back down here for desert golf, just playing here? Does it feel a little bit more like home to you or just something you're more comfortable with?
MICHAEL KIM: Yeah, a hundred percent. I grew up in San Diego, so all these West Coast tournaments, and especially these courses, I played a lot of junior golf tournaments here, I even remember some of the shots I hit into them 10, 15 years ago, so it's fun to kind of go back into the memory bank and just remember some of the more stress-free times, I guess.
Q. Looking forward to your preparation for tomorrow and Stadium, how is that going to look different from today?
MICHAEL KIM: Going to be doing the same things. Hopefully, I play as well as I did today, tomorrow. We're only halfway there, so still got a lot of golf.
