Q. Really solid opening round. What was working out there for you today?
JACKSON SUBER: Yeah, I had to keep it in position off the tee and my iron and wedge game felt really well. Just hitting good shots, just good shots and give myself good looks. Made a couple long birdie putts, and just kind of kept myself in it all day, and had a nice eagle putt out there as well.
Q. Second start of your rookie season out here on TOUR, what have been some of the positives you've seen through your first few rounds and the start of your second tournament?
JACKSON SUBER: Yeah, obviously I played well, and it's been nice to get off to that start. Definitely is encouraging and kind of bringing some confidence. It shows me it's not that much different, it's still the PGA TOUR, I mean, it's the top of the golf world, so it's tough, but I can compete out here if I'm doing the right things.
Q. Obviously a little bit in a different setup this week with three courses, and none of the courses are easy, this by most is considered the most challenging. What confidence does that give you going into tomorrow and Saturday, considering you put together a good round here, going into your next two rounds.
JACKSON SUBER: Yeah, I hadn't really looked at the scores yet, but I'm guessing that's one of the lower rounds of the day, I'm not sure what the lowest round out here was, but it definitely gives me a good kind of perspective on the rest of the tournament, because I think there's a 10-under, 9-under at the top of the board, and I saw those were different courses, so just knowing that I got those other courses to play and can make a run on those other courses and keep it up.
Q. Obviously being out on the West Coast, have you played much golf out here, desert golf?
JACKSON SUBER: A little bit at the NCAA championship and then The Patriot in Arizona, so besides that I haven't played too much. Trying to figure it out still, but getting used to it.
Q. In your experience here what about desert golf do you like and what have you found that you enjoy compared to maybe some different course layouts and styles?
JACKSON SUBER: Yeah, it's definitely a little different. You got to kind of be -- there's normally a lot to look at, pretty big holes with a lot going on, but if you got to kind of narrow your focus and not just kind of get lazy with your target selection and your commitment. Then there wasn't much wind today, which was kind of nice, so it was like playing golf in an arena, which was, it was cool.
Q. Saw you played with Kevin Velo today, going back to your time last year on the Korn Ferry Tour, what's it like playing with Kevin, and just playing with a guy who you're familiar with like that, especially from last season, does that help keep you loose out there?
JACKSON SUBER: That was actually the first time we played together, but it definitely was just -- we're all just golfers trying to make it, so definitely cool to play with another recent grad of the Korn Ferry Tour.
