Jason Day

Quick Quotes

Q. Another solid round, 6-under for the day. How would you assess the day?

JASON DAY: It was good. One blemish, obviously on that par-5. Had a great drive in there, I mean, had 6-iron in my hand, and just, I mishit it, I towed it, and obviously if it was three yards right it's on the green, no problem. But then it rolled down into a sand-filled divot, and it's very difficult to hit a high flop shot out of a sand-filled divot that's got soft grass underneath. I did my best, nearly made a good par in the end, but overall very solid from tee to green, putting feels good, so really kind of getting those last two rounds out of the way is nice, and then getting into the tough test starting tomorrow.

Q. Discussed it a little bit yesterday about what's the game plan with Stadium, playing the trickier course for the week.

JASON DAY: They're saying that it's playing around even par. That's definitely a big change compared to the last two days. So the game plan's probably going to have to change a little bit, going to have to play a little bit more conservative to some of the pin locations. Hopefully bomb in maybe two or three of those long putts that you kind of usually get when you're playing pretty well. Yeah, no, that's difficult.

Q. After yesterday, kind of an unusual round with the three chip-ins, does that, like, I don't know, give you sort of a confidence that this might be a week that's working for you?

JASON DAY: It's definitely nice because after Sentry in Hawaii I didn't really chip that well, obviously it's different grass, this is quite forgiving this grass, but I was quite disappointed, so I worked really hard on the short game and paid off obviously in the first round. Nearly chipped in again, well, out of a bunker, lipped out today. I know that the short game stuff is working, just two days, it's going to be -- the next two days are going to be tough. Obviously it feels like, yeah, we're going to go into a total different golf course tomorrow, which you got to mentally prepare yourself for that.

Q. This is a tournament that you didn't always play in the early part of your career, you've been here four years in a row now, what sort of value are you finding in this tournament in the course of your years?

JASON DAY: It's nice to be able to get here, because I'm obviously in the desert anyways before that. So it's nice to be able to get here, get some work done, kind of see where things are progressing heading into the start of the season. If you can play well here, great. That usually propels you into Torrey and Pebble, which is usually my schedule that I would play before I would play this one. Yeah, no, it's nice to be able to come here where there's no wind and it's perfect weather all the time. The crowds are great, the tournament's fantastic, and then getting into the West Coast, the meat of the West Coast Swing.
