Quick Quotes

Q. I know kind of a mixed bag of results coming into this tournament. What has it been like trying to find consistency when you kind of had some up-and-down spurts and also you're playing some weeks and not playing other weeks?

LEE HODGES: Yeah, I mean, it's the game of golf, you know. There's a very few people that play this game that are good every week. I've just been trying to wait my time. I knew my game was there. I knew that me and my team were doing the right things. So I was just kind of waiting for it all to come together honestly. I knew what we were doing was right, so just needed it to all click.

Q. Pushed your tee shot way down there on 18 and a really good approach shot too; is that your favorite birdie of the day, or is there another one that stands out?

LEE HODGES: 18's just such a hard hole that to step up and hit those two shots is neat. No, probably the birdie that kind of got me back on track was probably the birdie on 12. Kind of after bogeying 10 and then kind of making a messy par on 11, to make that birdie was nice and kind of keep the momentum of the round going.

Q. You only had 24 putts today. What's working with the flat stick?

LEE HODGES: I don't know, honestly. I came here last Thursday. My putting coach lives in Jacksonville, so we got a lot of good work in. So I can't say enough things about him. We changed a couple setup things, just made sure we got the ball rolling in the right direction honestly. But can't say enough good things about Marcus.

Q. Who is your putting coach?

LEE HODGES: Marcus Potter.

Q. You mentioned a couple kind of small things?

LEE HODGES: Yeah, the ball was just a little too far back in my stance, and I was hitting it -- honestly I was lining it up off the toe. I didn't realize it visually. But honestly now I kind of feel like I'm lining it a little bit up off the heel, which is actually in the middle of the face. So my perception of the middle of face was a little off. We tweaked those things and were spitting out some good numbers on his little Quintic machine he's got.

Q. Were you already here when the first wave before you kind of got delayed? Were you in the middle of your warm-up?

LEE HODGES: Yeah, I was warming up, yeah. I had just started hitting balls.

Q. I assume since you weren't too far into your warm-up, it wasn't anything that affected you too much?

LEE HODGES: Not too bad. That's why I told somebody over there, I would much rather be delayed in a warm-up rather than in the middle of a round. I got to just basically start my hitting over again. So, no, it really didn't affect me much.

Q. You've won out here on TOUR, and you understand it's a 72-hole tournament. What it going to take as you have a quick turnaround overnight to continue to play well into tomorrow and as the weekend comes too?

LEE HODGES: Just kind of taking it in as it comes. Obviously this is a big tournament and, you know, I'm just honestly just happy to be in the position I'm in. My off-the-course life is great. It's getting better and better. Me and my wife are expecting a child, and like, you know, honestly it make you realize that this game doesn't really matter that much. Maybe a little perspective change, like just on and off the course has really helped me.

Q. When is your wife due?

LEE HODGES: September.

Q. So you got probably found out pretty recently, if I had to guess.

LEE HODGES: No, we've known for a little bit. She's 16 weeks or something like that. Yeah. Yeah, we've known for a little bit.

Q. Is it too soon, have you been asking a lot of other players around your age have been having kids out here. Have you have you started asking for tips on how to be a dad on tour?

LEE HODGES: Well I've got, what do I have, I have 11 nieces and nephews, so my family's pretty used to it. We're the late bloomers in our family.

Q. That may be a smart move on your part.

LEE HODGES: Right, right, right.
